Wierd. I can't stand the first part of the vid. I guess if you have an IO this would be great.

It is a cool new invention and all and it looks like it would get boring pretty quickly.

oshensurfer, Don't get it

Bruky, why

Davo.FSF, explain

colefooter, your better?

This is a product that is in it's early design stages. Most the riders are pro's and have a ton of experience expecially Geno and Kevin. Why so skeptical? Not disagreeing just wondering.

Phaeton, first off, looks like something some kid is going to get his fingers caught in. Secondly, what's the difference between that and a hella stretchy rope. Thirdly, no, colefooter isn't better.

I may be proven wrong in the future, but it just doesn't seem like something we need at this point in time. Effectively, you would need a higher tower to put it into full effect, no? Slingshot may become something great, so I guess I will see.

Stetchy ropes are the new thing now, I surprised you haven't heard. I can't find one stretchy enough for me so I run 6 bungee cords between my mainline and handle. Rolling Eyes

Phaeton, It looks like it would get old quick because in the first video the guy kept doing the same thing over and over in the flats. Don't get me wrong and all, I think It is a good invention and can be fun, but just curious that If someone wanted to do wake jumps only, would the sling shot really be worth it?

It's different from a stretchy rope in that it "stretches" a small predefined amount then stops. So, once it is "loaded," you can still load the line just as you would with a normal non-stretch rope. Then, when it "recoils," they can control how fast it does so. I see a shock on there so I'm guessing it pulls more slowly than a stretchy rope would. This would prevent the undesirable situation you get with a stretchy rope, where the rope jerks you forward quickly, then leaves you with a bunch of slack.

Of course, all this adds up to zero. A stretchy rope is bad for your riding. This thing...well...it's just different. I don't believe it gives you any appreciable advantage. It would feel different because it would give you a pull once you're in the air. The maximum amount that it could increase your air would be the travel of the mechanism, i.e. a foot or two. Of course, that would be if it were pulling you straight up. It is not. At the end of a 70 foot rope, where the pull point is only 5 feet or so above the handle, the upward component of the pull would be negligible, maybe providing you with and extra inch of air. The real key to pop is the tension when you hit the wake, not once you've left it. This contraption would not change that. It's a gimmick.
