I am confused... I was reading a post the other day where it was saying that the wake on the 2005 Supra 21V puts the 22V to shame. I wish I could find the post again or I would post my question there; however, I can't... so here I am.

I though that the bigger the boat (longer, heavier, etc.) produced a taller wake when factoring out ballast tanks and wake plates, etc. This post that I read was basically saying the opposite... as in the 21V put out a better wake be cause it was a foot shorter???

If that was the case... what is the MC X-45 or X-80 all about?

Confused Sad

The shape of the hull and the amount of ballast and the location of people makes more of a difference in the wake. Yes, a bigger, longer, heavier boat may make a big wake, but it may not be as desirable. Wake shape, size, form, width, length, etc. is a personal preference. I've got a friend with a '96 Ski Nautique and we had that thing weighted down and the wake was comparable to a brand new Super Air.

Here's a post about the wake on a 21V Supra.
http://forums.wakeboarder.com/viewtopic.php?t=31724&highlight=21v
"The 21V was unreal as well. We spent 2 days with this boat trying to get the wake right. We found that, this boat at about 23mph with the front gravity bag full and the rear ones about 3/4 full will produce a tremendous wake. Again, we ran the wake plate at the half way point.

In my opinion, I like the shape better of the 21V. Also, at the speed and line length in which I ride, the wake on the 21V seemed bigger to me than the 22SSV.

However, the great thing about it is that you can't go wrong with the 21V, the 22SSV or the 24SSV. The wakes are all big and clean"...McFly

good info 89skier... also the 21V and the 22SSV have different hulls.. the 21V is much deeper.. it has TONS of storage for extra weight and the floor is also super deep compared to the 22SSV..

in my opinion the 21V is the best wakeboard boat for supra, but nothin touches the 24V that thing is just a MONSTER!

Also about wakes.. ur gonna find every boats wake different. its up to you to know what kind of wake do u want, then u can weight ur boat for ur liking.. load the back down will create a more steep wake while evening it out with a lil more up front will be more mellow and what most people prefer.

have fun boat shoppin!

Thanx for the replies... guys...

I ordered a 2005 Supra 22SSV Gravity Games boat because:

1) It is a very nice boat with what I think is a decent wake (Newbie!)
2) It was a boat I actually got to water test before ordering
3) Doesn't look weird like the 21V... is it my imagination or does it look like they just took a 22 and chopped 1 foot off the bow and came up with a 21? Although... the 21V interior is pretty cool Smile

This is going to be my first boat ever... let alone my first wakeboarding boat... just felt a little insecure about my purchase there for a minute.

Feeling a bit better; however, maybe I should stop researching my purchase now that I've actually purchased.

Anyway... you'll know me when ya see me... I'll be lookin good and ridin bad Smile

Thanx again.

Awesome man. Congrats on the purchase.

And I agree with wkbrdmdw, the wake can change on every boat depending on how you weight it. As you can see from my first post, the Supra guys here in Dallas spent 2 days getting the wake where they wanted it. But the minute you put one more person in there, it will change.

The 21V may have a bigger wake because of it's extremely deep hull. The hull on the 22V is nowhere near as deep as the 21, and the 22 is not quite as wide (though there is only a 3" difference). If you look at the two boats out of the water you will notice how deep the V is on the 21...similar to but much deeper than the 22.

Again, they are both great boats, but i hope this helps!

I demo'd a 21V, and the wake looked identical to my SSV to me. If there's a difference, it's minute and most people wouldn't notice.

I thought my SSV handled better, but the 21V has more storage, and is DEEP, felt like driving the Titanic. Smile
