|
|
| We just got a 1990 sport nautique and now we have got to figure out our weight setup for the ballast system we're putting in. We don't want an outrageous amount of weight, but at the same time we want a nice wake. We are planning on putting a 540 lb. sack on each side of the engine and a 500 lb. sack up front. Seems like a simple setup. Will it give us a good wake? |

I run a fat seat in the back, 500lbs of sand in the locker and a partially filled 600 in the nose and the wake is pretty sweet. I used to run that and 350's on either side of the engine compartment with the rest of the weight but it didn't seem to help that much. Are you putting a 540 in the back too? If not you may want to consider a little more weight in the back because you will be a little unbalanced, the wake will be more rampy than vert if you don't have weight in the back. I hope this helps some, just mess around with the set up till you get it the way you like it. _________________ www.hyperlite.com

Seems with the Sport - the more weight towards the back will create more vert - similar to the Super Air which runs on a similar hull. On my Pro Air with more weight in the back the wake gets very verticle with a nice transition (not too abrupt a vert wake). Your Sport doesn't have the rear tanks -try a sac in the rear or the side sacs a little more towards the rear. Be willing to experiment and get several friends' opinions.

| What about a 540 lb. in the back, and a 250 lb. on each side of the engine? |

hmm how many 540s and 250s do you have? 540 on either side and in the back and a 250 in the nose would probably be pretty sweet, you may need a little more that that in the nose. I guess it depends on what kind and size you wake you want. More in the back the more verty wake you will have. The more in the front the more ramped your wake will be. 3 540's and a decent counter weight in the front would probably give you a pretty pimped out wake. But once agian it is all personal preference. _________________ www.hyperlite.com

Right now all I have is one 540 lb. sack. I'm trying to find out the best weight placement so I know what sacks I need. So here is what I'm planning to do now:
540 lb. in the back
250 lb. on each side of the engine
500 lb. in the nose
sound okay? |
