I have been watching them on Ebay, and if I can get one cheap enough, I will give it a try.

Ya i've done that but it didn't turn out to great it was fine but then i hit this huge asphalt hill and i took off so i tried to just ride it out but towards the end i was goin about 35mph i got speed wobble and lost control the board went into a spin and sence ur feet r connected it slammed me on the ground and i slid 25ft on my stomach and then slid another 10-15ft on my back, i was only wearin a t-shirt shorts and vans slip on shoes, my whole stomach was torn up and bleeding my knees, my shoulders and my whole arms were skinless and a few cuts on my lower back but its really fun in the dirt just makesure theres no asphalt near by.

I mountainboard. I have a hill in my back yard and then it goes flat for about 20 feet then goes downhill again. I built a 5 foot tall 10 feet long ramp and put it on the flat part. It was alot of fun but I had to retire it after a concusion and a badly broken wrist.

| Oh yeah and instead of using those gay one strap bindings, I took the the high backs off of my snowboard bindings and used them.

AccidentProne, you sound like your name I do have some decent hills and access to a small launch ramp. Just need a board now.
beasoldierprstn, Most mountainboards have pneumatic tires about 8-10 inches in diameter, so unless it was a big rock, I wouldn't worry much.

Good idea michaelkontor, If I get one I will try that.

i have one.. here in houston there arnt that many hills but the ones that we go to are just grass and are somewhat steep, so you can carve alot and still go fast. we just put out those black plastic kiker ramps halfway down the hill and do airs and put rails next to them and hit rails. its tight

Ya tru that those r for wusses
I've tried the carve boards before and i dont like them that much cuz the tires seem to grip to much on hard carves i like longboarding where u can slide the board.

doesn't that really hurt tyo fall on? i used to freeride and dual slalom bike all the time and those falls were harsh, but the crashes on one of these would be more frequent especially on a rocky mountain, and probably just as hard. are they?

You can always take the brake off.
It'll be less weight and and less of a pain in the ass.
Plus you'll learn how to stop the right way.

flukdfilms, couldn't say how hard the falls are, yet. If the guy gets on it with the shipping, I should have my board in a couple of days. I will only be on the local hills. No rocky areas. I get hurt bad enough between martial arts and snowboarding.
AccidentProne, so the kind of board I bought is not the style you ride? Minus the brake, of course, cuz those are for wusses. Do you ride the kind with the urethane wheels?

the way I look at it is...
Boarding on cement= way to many variables against you and the hardest/roughest surface you could fall on.... so = falling is unaceptable and = not falling while learning=unavoidable.....

U dont need a brake to do big hills u just need to learn how to stop or slow down or get on a hill where u can ride it out until u stop.

Nick Broadwell, Tell me about the shocks. The ones I've seen look like they are more for stiffening up the steering, rather than shock absorbsion.

If I felt the desire to get skin grafts, I'd set myself on fire, not ride a big skateboard down a rocky mountain...
but thats just me

The falls on grass and dirt on that bad if your hittin a ramp. About the same as screwin up a rmp on a snowboard. The springs arn't shock absorbers. They are there to act like bushings on a skateboard truck.
Brakes are for pussys.

VICTER, to slow down u just carve hard and if u want to stop u do a sliding stop like on a snowboard its the same thing or u can always just turn up a hill.
