Have just bought my first wakeboard boat, a 79 Ski Nautique. Love it to death but have a question that you specialists might be able to help with. The wake is good with a few people aboard and above 20mph, but washes out ( one side in particular) below this speed. I have experimented with weight, ( but haven't got fatsacs yet) and am still having trouble. Boat fitted with pylon. Also, would the propelor make a difference, ( bigger, smaller, etc)
Thanks

If the wake is different on each side, then you just need to move more weight (people in your case) to the side of the boat with the wash. Don't trust the speedo; it could be wrong. Just go at least as fast as you have to so there is no wash. If you have a GPS (or a known distance and a stopwatch), you can check/calibrate your speedo. In general, if you want less wash at a given speed, shift the weight forward, making the wake less steep. A new propeller is a good investment but probably won't help with the wake. It can, however, help you accelerate and hold speed with a lot of weight.

also if someone is boarding, and they are pulling on the boat one direction or another then that can wash out the other side of the wake too.

Thanks for the advice, will start shifting weight forward as i have mostly been moving weight between the middle and the very back, so i'll give it a go. Hoping to weigh it down with 600 lbs at rear and maybe another 700 between the middle and the front if this is not too much weight. Hopefully i wont sink the old girl......

Good luck with that weight! On our 82 Ski Nautique its got a max weight cap. of about 1100 lbs. give or take a little.

I don't think it will be too much weight, just a lot more than necissary! Esp. since at that time the "slalom" hull then is nothing compared to nowadays. We wakeboard behind ours w/ no weight and its fine. Anyway, give it a shot. Good luck!
