This is probably a stupid question and I apologize for that in advance. I have recently purchased a Sony mini dv camera. How do I get the video from my camera to my pc? The software Sony gives you is pretty weak and it seems like a need to buy a card or something. The USB connection and "Burn VCD" option doesn't work well for me either. It seems like I should just be able to hook the camera to the pc and dump the video... similar to dumping dig pics from the camera to pc.
if your computer has a firewire port. just get a 4 to 6 pin fire wire cable...the small side goes in your camera the bigger end goes into the back or front of your computer..
if you dont have a firewire port. you can buy a "fire wire card" that will go in one of your PCI slots. ive seen them for like 20-30 bucks on the internet.. try www.pricewatch.com
once you have all that hardware its eazy. just get a program that you can capture and edit with. you can download Adobe premeir off of Kazza or whatever FTP sharing program PC users use now, you can go to www.avid.com/freedv and downlaod a free version of Avid express, or if you want to put a little money into it you can purchase something like Final Cut.
