I tried the hs backroll yesterday twice and now i have the rotation but i land in a butterslide position with my board on the top of the second wake. The only thing is i let go of the rope right at the end(still rattled a lil from concussion earlier this season. Do i just need to cut harder? also would keeping the handle in make the rotation faster because iam letting my arms and legs both stay extended and rotation feels slow. ANy tips would help. My height is fine though good pop!!!
thanks,
evan |

Cut a bit harder. I land in the butterslide position also but as long as you land on your edge your fine because you can recover to more parallel with the boat (board-wise). Keep the handle in though, that was the hardest thing I had to get over. When you let it out it will slow you down and sometimes throw off your rotation. Good luck. _________________ www.Tigeowners.com

| definitely keep the rope into your hip. you shouldnt need to cut any harder if you are all the way around and on the crest of the second wake. |

well if you have enough pop then edge harder so you can get more distance and land clean. and definatley keep the rope in. _________________ Wake Forest University |

| Handle in = faster rotation. Handle out = slower rotation. |

I figured out that most people I teach how to do these always flatten off at the trough. Edge through the wake, seriously. Progressive edge is important too. _________________ ...island style... |

today i did it another 8 times and i am closer. i wish i would have read these posts before i went out. Today i video taped it and the two things i saw was i am not cutting hard at all actually less than my w2ws!!! Also i am letting go of the handle3/4 of the way around and landing butterslide! Will holding on help me straighten out at the very end. And to take it a lil bigger should i just cut harder????
THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP |

AbsoluteRida, Im 13, I can only do grabs, and some 180s we still got a big head start over all of the oldies tho. (No offense to all you "back in my day-ers" in your 30's) |

im 14 and i do 5 inverts in a small season so your set
just go for it on whatever you do, dont half it or you will pay for it. Hold on as much as you can because you could probably pull off a sketchy one if you just don't let go |

| well i went out today and on my 1st one i landed and rode away without the rope so on the second try i cut hard bu then let off my edge and tried to throw the trick early! Why do i clear the first ones but case the rest when i case the impact i just too much. Plus on all my normal wakejumps and 180s i take to the flats but i cut as hard as i can for backroll and cant even clear the wake????? |

your probably letting off your edge and not even noing it. video tape it again and watch closely. also if your throwin the trick before you get booted you wont get as much hang time _________________ i wish i lived in florida...

Yeah I've got similar problems. Seems like my pop and rotation are fine, but every time I have someone take a pic...by the time I'm upside down I have already let go with my back hand. Then I land on the board and its like I'm just not used to landing like that because I fall right away.
Is keeping ahold of the handle with both hands a necessity? _________________ Back to back NBA champs. |

| patrickengler, i think backrolls are easier with both hands, but i can do them one handed and stuff to so i guess its not a necessity, it might make the landing easier or something i dont know |
