|
|
every time i try to tantrum i lose... there's no real other way to put it... im a loser at tantrums... A couple of times i've come close to landing one, but i lost the rope (like a loser). After about my 20th try on my houseboating trip i just gave up and worked on backrolls.
I KNOW i'm advanced enough to do one of these, but every time i feel i get worse at it. I either under-rotate, lose the rope, or land in the "picture perfect faceplant" stance... you know... the one where your face breaks the sound barrier before slapping the water cause your board gets sucked under.
I know that its a trip trick, and i have a friend who says i'm approaching it well... i think some of the problem may be in letting go of my back hand, i do it but dont 'throw' it.
thanks! |

can your friend even hit it?
get as much speed as possible coming into the wake and ride the whole wake up and right at the top do the trip flip, thats how you get the most pop possible
trampoline helps a lot, just strait backflips with a rope |

| first off you need a better attitude, I was having trouble with the handle too, try to keep the handle in by your waist to keep the slack out. And try try try you'll get it. |

I always have the losing the handle problem when learning new tricks. The key is just to tell yourself "this is f'ing stupid, I'm going to hold onto that handle and not let go until I'm dragging along the water." Then when you do the trick, concentrate really hard on not letting go. That usually works for me.
Also, your attitude really doesn't help. Insulting yourself is only going to get you down. Instead, you should be visualizing yourself being successful, and telling yourself you can do it. |

DTBoardin, you can go to a sporting goods store and buy some ankle weights to try to make it feel like the weight of your board. but dont kill yourself if you under rotate and fall on your face _________________ Wake Forest University |

I just started landing tantrums about a month ago. The biggest thing that helped me was letting go with my back hand, squaring up at the top of the wake, and keeping the rope in, actually pulling the rope in with my lead hand all the way through the trick. That helped me spin faster, and pick up the water early. So once you feel the pop, keep the rope in tight and look for the water. The hardest part for me was sticking the landings but once you get a few down, they're actually pretty easy. Hopes this helps! _________________ go big or go home |

| I was having the same problem as you until my dad (who knows nothing about wakeboarding) said I needed more air. It was simple advice, and at first I was like screw that, I can do backrolls without a wake. Regardless though I cut way out, took a huge progressive cut in and popped like I never have before and landed a huge tanny. After that you can learn to tone them down a bit if you have any respect at all for people who can still walk, but it's a good way to learn them. |

it seems if i tried with weights when i took them off i would over rotate. im still looking for a crappy board to take on the trampoline... which brings me to my next question... would it be an ok idea to take my byerly on the trampoline? im jus really paranoid and love that board.
yea the doube backflip is pimp... not as hard as it seems though... |

DTBoardin, i dont think thats such a good idea.....not only could it ruin your board, you could ruin the trampoline too. like if you hit an edge hard on it slid across it could ruin the trampoline mat....or it could snap your board. ive never tried it but it doesnt sound like a good idea to me |
