|
|
| Ok we were thinking about making an aframe for the river i live on that is like 4 ft deep and we wanted to make it a permanent slider. So I was wondering if for the main post you put them in a bucket filled with cement if that would keep the slider steady. |

They are in the mud. Here in Texas, the river bottom is sorta soft mudd and not a hard rock bed like it would be in AZ or Cali. We drove them into the ground with a sledge hammer. The posts are 10ft long. We drove them into the ground as deep as possible and then cut off the acess on the top that had splintered up from being pounded by the sledge hammer. We just made sure the slider will be as high as the lowest post. Some posts went in far, like 3-4ft, and others only went in like 2 ft. Which is plenty deep considering there are 8 other posts bearing the load on the slider and stuff. We also took a chain saw and cut the end of the post to a point like a pencil before we drove them into the ground which helps alot.
You can see in the picture the shoreline is like a silty/sand/mud bottom....so this is a perfect place for something like this. Fortunately its also pretty level all the way out. meaning the shoreline doesnt just drop off to like 4-6 ft. Its like waist high all the way out to the post...where the slider will be. _________________ www.DallasWakeboarding.com |

The slider usually is farther out in the river...but the water level sometimes goes up and down. That weekend it was pretty far down....we rode it anyways.
We were'nt planning on filming that day but a friend happen to have a camera that captured video...hince the poor quality. Better than nothing but you get the idea.
looking back...that was really dangerous and I'm very lucky. A guy broke his leg out there like a week or so early and had to be airlifted to the hospital. It was pretty bad. _________________ www.DallasWakeboarding.com |
