Simply BADA$$. The look is clean, the lights are bright, and the sound is awesome. You will have no problem hearing your music at 70' behind the boat. There is a lot of good tower systems out there, but speaking from experience these are definitely deserving of a top spot on the list. Cool
Check out the reviews at www.Wakeside.com. You can save a little cash as well because you can order the setup sans speakers, and stuff them with whatever speaker setup you like.

My friend has it on his '04 X2 and he ordered it without the speakers. You can pick up some sweet sounding Alpine sps170's for $50 or so a pair.... much cheaper than the MBQ option. For the price difference, the Apline's are a better bang for the buck, imo. I love the setup, think it looks sweet on his boat, sounds great, and the down-facing LED's are just pimp. Cool

I guess my next question is, Is that the wiring harness on the right side of the pic sticking out of the mounting bar? I want to keep my tower "Wireless" i.e. not a lot of excess wires everywhere.

Also, do the mounting brackets move in and out, decreasing or increasing the distance between them? I would like to cover the holes I have drilled in my tower for my current speakers.

Oh, and I will be buying this from Wakeside.com

tequilasun, The pigtail on the right side of the picture is the wiring for the whole system. It plugs into a female connector which connects to your wiring in the tower. You will only see that black connnector and can probably use your existing holes in the tower. The mounts are fixed. Let me know if I can help you anymore. And the guys at Wakeside are great!

That is in fact the wiring harness. The setup is super clean, being that is the only wires you will see for the entire setup. Snake the wires through your tower and plug in up top, it will be virtually wireless.
The mounting brackets are adjustable to fit different diameters of towers, but they do not move in and out. Mako states that the setup will fit all existing OEM towers. It was a tight fit on the X2, but it came out clean. What type of boat/tower do you plan to install the setup on?

I will be putting it on an 05 Tige with the newer OEM tower. It is kind of like a Boss Billet Tower on a 2 3/8" diamete. The two loops on the upper part of this tower are Curved, so I figure I will have to get the Adjutable mounts that MAKO offers...BTW can I get those through Wakeside.com? Right now the only downside to this system is that wiring harness, I really wish they would have made the connector come out the top of the bar near the middle, or route it through one of the clamps. I may just try to modifiy it when I get it!

They offer several sizes of clamps, and one specifically to fit the 2 3/8" diameter tubing. Modify away, but I will say that once it's up on the tower and connected, noticing the harness will not be a problem.... but hey, what makes it great is how you take it and make it better. Post pics when you're done!!

We have it on our 99 xstar, it sounds really good. the wiring harness is only for the lights, not the speakers. but it sounds good with the mb quartz, I'd say go for it!

Does anyone know where I can find the adustable mounts for this system? I have emailed mako, but no response, and cannot find a part number or anything. I am going to have to get this to install. Also, what are you guys pushing this system with? I have a 400 watt clarion powering the current speakers, I think I will use that.

tequilasun, What type of "adjustable" mounts are you referring to?

Also, 400 to the tower should be just fine, depending on what speakers you go with.

Well, my tower is curved, there is no straight sections to it. Therefore the mounting brackets must be able to "twist" to deal with the curvature. i.e. they cannot be perpendicular to the bar on which the speakers are mounted. It looks to me like they won't adjust to fit the curvature. I might be wrong, about this. The literature on Mako-ind.com says they offer "adjustable mounting brackets" I figure I will need these. I am trying to get all my ducks lined up before I send the check!!!

The tower mounts are able to rotate 360 degrees to fit different mounting angles. If I am not mistaken, the "adjustable" mounting brackets refer to both the fact they can swivel and that they will fit almost any tower diameter out there. If it comes down to it, I've seen original OEM brackets used to mount the Mako setup... the Mako mounts can be removed and the OEM brackets used instead.

Man I love ridding behind that boat. The wake is huge with the Gravity bags in it. The Mako speaker light bar combo is super loud. I would say that it is a good buy from ridding in that boat
