switching?????

Once again I am new at this so I am a little uneducated about it all but I have fallen fast and hard for the sport of wakeboarding and simply can't get enough of it. My question is: the next time I go out I am going to attempt to switch and become comfortable with riding backwards but do I need to take off the fin or leave it or even put both of them on.... I am riding a Hyperlite vero 143 so I have one fin placement on each end..... NEEDIN SOME HELP....

You should be fine with keeping both fins on. Taking them off will make it really loose and tough for your first time riding switch. So keep the fins on but make sure when you switch that you lean back when turning the board to get most of the fin out of the water.

Two tips:

1. When you turn the 180, whether it's in the air, on the surface, on the wake, or whatever; keep the handle down toward your hips. This will give you more control and make it less likely for you to get pulled over for a bad face plant.

2. Slow the boat down to 18mph or less to get used to it. The slower you go, the easier it will be to slide sideways and the less it will hurt if you faceplant. If the driver can't or won't do this, for whatever reason, try switching back and forth when you're first getting up or on the inside when the boat is turning around.

sounds simply enough....I expiremented with no fins the other day just to see what it was like and it was like trying to stand on ice. I will try this as soon as I go out.....thanks
