teach them ts and hs edge. also tell them to keep like 60% weight on back foot and 40% weight on front foot. alot of my friends lean too far back. _________________ my new signature |

tell then to start edging, stop pointing the board, just stick your head over on either side... try and teach then a ts edge first, cuz they'll learn the hs a lot easier _________________ Laugh hard, it's a long way to the bank... |

| I think the best thing for newbs on like their first run is to just let them get the feel then on their second run tell them to try and cut outside the wake. The biggest problems I see with beginners doing this is they go very slowly and try and push on the front of the board to make them go over it but then once they're over they fall. You just got to tell them to get some speed then do it and it will be much easier. |

| yes make sure they are not leaning back to far. most people think that the front of the board will go underwater if they dont lean back. and make sure they are in the right position (straight legs and not all hunched over) then slowly teach them how to edge. tell them they dont have to lean back so far and this will help with edging too.tell them to lean on there toes or heels and it will just take time to get used to it |

I tell them to use the rope and lean from side to side. You can also teach them to use their back foot as a steering mechanism.
Also, their form is important. I've got friends that only board with one hand on the rope, so they don't get the right feel for their edges. And a lot of new riders lean forward at their hips, so their balance is all screwed up. Teach them to put their hip forward and put the handle to their hip. _________________ So, I've got that goin' for me...which is nice! |

Most first timers I've seen get up and then shoot out to one side of the wake and then can't seem to figure out how to get back. I tell them to get on and edge and commit to it. but hell I'm not very good at teaching. _________________ Grab some pine meat! |

| Remember folks that there is a fine line between edging and leaning. Leaning will get you into trouble when you try to clear the wake. Your weight will be off balanced. Instead, put pressure on your toes or heels and use handle position to edge. |

Leaning isn't edging? So should I be standing somewhat straight-up and just tilt my heels/toes to turn/edge?
