| can someone help a brotha out? i just started wakeboarding about 2 weeks ago and i'm having a blast, going out almost every day but i'm still having trouble going wake to wake. right now i'm sticking to heelside, trying to get that down, and i'm only clearing about half the wake. i've been reading every comment about going wake to wake and i feel like i'm doing what everyone has to say (like building an edge and edging extremely hard through the wake, standing tall while coming off the wake, loading the line, etc.), but my question is whether or not my equipment is up to par, or am i just hopeless? right now my buddy and i are using a 19 foot four winns with a 135 horse johnson outboard (sorry i don't know anything else about his boat) with no weight in it. we've got about a 2 foot high ski pylon and use a standard ski rope that's about 75 feet long. i'm wondering whether or not adding some things in like a shorter non-stretch rope, a taller pylon/tower, and some fat sacks would really be beneficial enough to help me clear the wake. i guess my quiestion in a nutshell is: should a beginner who can clear the wake fairly well be able to clear it using my equipment? if not, any suggestions? |

once you learn to do w2w's you should be able to clear them on any boat....maybe except a 25hp outboard.
The pylon isn't that big of a deal. We used to have a four winns and go off the ski ring on the back and still get w2w. I will say its harder. You have to cut as hard as you can and pop like a mf. Now that we're on the mobius lsv with 1000 lbs of balast...you hardly have to try. just cut with speed.
Is your boat an I/O?? _________________ Back to back NBA champs. |

if you're riding out at 75', my first guess would be that is your problem right there.
Shorten the rope a bit and see how that works.
patrickengler, he's got a 135hp Johnson outboard. My guess would be that he has an outboard. |

K-dub, my bad....forgot what I read.
Yeah shorten that rope up. go 2 off. 20 mph. Thats about as good as it gets.
Don't be bummed if you can't do it. You can still have a lot of fun w/o going w2w. Just pop hard and throw some nice grabs. Then when you get behind a bomb wake you put the same energy you put into this one....then BAM! w2w. _________________ Back to back NBA champs. |

Are u using a skii rope or a wakeboard rope cuz if you don't have a wakeboarding rope you can't build up your line tension in order to get a good load and release.........? _________________ |
