My trailer from my '92 Sunsetter has surge brakes. I'd like to know if it is possible to convert it to a swing away tongue. I'm also in the process of building a garage and limited in size because of local building code. That is the reason for converting the trailor! _________________ SLIP IT ON AND RIDE IT! |

Doug,
My boat has to go in diagonally in our double car garage and it just fits but its tough to get around it to get things
out of the garage. I have thought of getting a swing tongue as well so I can fit it straight in... Looking at my trailer,
the tongue assembly is bolted on so I think I could just switch to a swing tongue.

| I had mine cut and it is just like new. Throw some matching paint over the new weld and noone will ever know. Definitely worth it when you have a tight garage or if you want to lock it open to deter would be thiefs... |

| I did what Diggs mentioned on a previous boat trailer. Cut the tonque off where I wanted and took it to a local shop to have a sleeve (about 1/4" thick) welded back in. Used quick disconnects for break fluid and lights and used some heavy duty hardened bolts (at least 1") to couple it together. Not a swing away, but cost me under $100 and gained me 2 feet and took under 2 mins. to connect/disconnect. |

| P hat in Cincy, how do you use quick disconnects for break fluid? I would think it would lose pressure when you take it out. Are these pretty reliable? |

Wakebrad...I thought the same thing when a buddy explained it to me, but I didn't seem to have any performance issues. Maybe just try to make sure the quick disconnect is higher than the brake calipers but lower than the actuator (tonque) and let the tiny airbubbles work there way into the resevoir?

U would be right about losing psi. But when the trailer is just siting, there is no psi in the line's |
