I love to wakeboard but my lil brother (13) doesnt like it for some reason. I cant seem to understand why but he instead chooses to slalom ski. he knows how to ride and if he put some effort in could easily jump w2w but refuses to wakeboard. Any words you guys can give him that would hopefully change his mind it kills me to see him slalom skiing behind a mastercraft x2 any non offensive words owuld be appreciated

i am the exact opposite, i absolutely love wakeboarding and last year i didn't touch a slalom ski and this year, i went to show my dad i could still get up first time (i was pretty good when i did do it)

tell him skiing is too dangerous and you don't want him to get hurt

Everybody wants to be individual - you're probably pretty good and instead of competing or standing in your shadow, he goes to an area where he can stand out

That's not a bad thing -

Let him do whatever he wants. It shouldn't make any difference to you. Maybe he'll get bored and want to wakeboard. Maybe not. Who knows? Skiing seems a little boring to me but I respect people who can do it well. Basically, don't worry about it.

I've tried to ski on 2 and couldnt get up Smile I kept doing the splits, so I'll stick to boards.

tell him slaloming is for girls since it is...

also the wakeboarders GET WAY WAY WAY WAY WAY MORE CHICKS which im sure is important to him!

slalomers r so desperate that in their magazines they have wakeboard advertisements and wakeboard pics... ive never seen a slalomer in a wakeboard mag.

I don't know what's up with some kids. A friend of mine's who is also thirteen is pretty good on a board. he won't ride any more because he says it's not cool. He has a real passion and talent for music, sooooooooooooo it's not cool to board. I tried the "chicks love guys that play guitar and board" He didn't buy it. Oh well his loss.

I have a guy that coaches me and occaisionally i ask if i can take a set on my duck swerver... not once has he let me! haha He can teach slalom but chooses not to because he thinks its crappy.

But after being pretty good on a ski I always enjoyed it more then boarding - which i sucked at.. but this year since i progressed on a board its overtaken my skiing big time.. i have barely skied all year.

I would guess your bros getting something similar to this - he prefers skiing because he's good at it.. its like a cache 22... if he boarded more i bet he'd grow to love it more than skiing.. but right now because hes not that great at boarding he knows he can get good attention from ripping it up on the swerve stick.. where as YOU get all the attention for throwing down the moves on your board.

Maybe encourage him to go get some private coaching when you aren't all watching? then he can come impress you with his perfect technique and maybe feel like hes teaching you a thing or two Cool
