the slower the boat goes the bigger the wake is ( around 18-19) but the faster the boat goes, its a lot firmer (20-25) but i dont like to try w2w at 23 or whatever speed above 19 cuz the falls can start to hurt.
should i just go balls out and is it better to have a small and firm wake or a big soft one
i would think smaller but firm sould be better but never really tried it _________________ Wake Forest University |

| Shorten your line and go about 21, then keep a nice progressive edge into the wake and you should be good. Going balls out is not always the answer, learn a progressive edge and you have a lot better answer. I think the progressive edge is listed under the trick list on this site. |

Ride at whatever speed you're most comfortable at. Or perhaps I should say whichever speed you have the most fun at. As you improve you'll want to increase your speed more (probably), and it's not like you have to worry about that right now.
I will say this. If you can feel comfortable riding a little faster, it tends to make landings a little easier to stick. |

| a speed around 21 or 22 should be fine. I rode around that speed for a while until I started riding with a longer rope length and found that I actually liked the higher speed. It scared me at first, and I freaked out when i entered a competition and the boat was going about 25 or 26 but I ended up really liking the speed and now I try riding at that speed. I don't notice the falls being that much worse, but I guess they could be in some cases. I personally think it takes less efort to clear the wake at a higher speed as long as your edging properly. |

| When I started I liked going 16-17 cause I wasnt going as fast and the wake was bigger..but now..I like going w2w so I speed up around 20 or so and the wake is pretty much just as big but the tension in tha rope helps the lenght of your jump. |

Yeah, I think the big scare when you first start going faster is that you start out cutting in the same as you would at the lower speed, but you go so much faster because of the speed or the boat. The faster you go, the better your progressive edge needs to be. This will keep you more in control too. _________________ "There are two things I cannot stand in this world, people who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and the Dutch" |

| yeh i agree...slowly go faster as you get better... but not so fast that your wake gets smaller...thats no good at all. |
