I am curious. Allot of the video's I see here from members seem to approch the wake with the TS facing the boat. From what I have watched, it looks like 80% or so.
Is this just a coincidence, or is that the recommended way? Easier.
As a newbie, I prefer to jump with me HS toward the boat. (Yes, I am working on BOTH ways, but HS toward the boat is much easier).
If it helps, I have my right foot forward. Which also seems to be rare....
Any explainations would be awesome and thanks for being patient with me!
Great forum!

hey.... are your toes pointing towards the wake (TS wake jump) or are your heels pointing towards the wake (HS wake jump) when you get ready to jump it? i also ride "goofy" or right foot forward. it isnt rare, it is just how you are most comfortable. _________________ my new signature |

With your ride w/ ur right foot forward, that is called goofy...Left foot forward is regular....More people are regular footed, hence the name "regular"......Anyway, a HS side cut is when your cutting on you heels, the HS edge will b in the water w/ toes up, and just the opposite for toe edge....So for you going into a HS edge you would b going Left to right .....Hope that fills you in somewhat....

I can jump both ways. But jumping TS (my toes facing the wake my heels facing the boat) or right to left as Norcalboarddude puts it, I find that allot easier. But it seems in the videos, it is a rare way to jump.
Yeah, us goofy riders are pretty goofy. Add to the fact I am an idiot, I am surprised I can stand up let alone wakeboard. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

and for the jumping..whatever feels comfortable, and you will have a jump on the crowd many people cannot even jump the wake TS and they are doing 180s and grabs and stuff _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

Evil_dead, its just a coincindence.
Norcalboarddude, actually i believe that its pretty much 50/50 with regular riders versus goofy riders. i think the term goofy was around during the surfing days and im guessingits because of the way the waves break in a lot of spots theyd break to the right and its easier surfing frontside so that would make it easier if you were regular. this is just a guess but i doubt its called goofy because less people ride that way. |

Well maybe someone can comment on the layout of my board. I was going to post this in the "post pic of your board here" thread. But it took a LOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG time to load that thread...
Let me know if I could benefit from setting it up a different way! _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

If you ain't riding switch you can always set your stance further back on the board. I'm a beginner and that's what I've been doing lately to make the landings easier to control. Although you can't ride switch with your stance set up this way it does help you get the feel of the jumps so that eventually you can do your normal stance and ride switch. Just a suggestion. _________________ YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWWWW!!!! |
