looks great. You should have tons of enjoyment out of your new tower.

Hi Wakebrad, i've made all the towers i've built out of 2" inside diameter mild steel tube. i think its easyier to work with than alumium or stainless.

hi Gobeer
One thing you might wanna try is putting some rubber washers on the bolts it might help absorb some of the shock. How old is the gel coat on your boat?

Gel coat is more than likely the original, its '90 model boat.
I have a thin strip of rubber between the hull and the outside plate, also between the hull and the inside wooden plate.

Gobeer, grind out the crack or it may keep running, it's underneath so no heroic measures should be needed but watch it. Metal against fiberglass is not a good thing unless the boat was made for that from the factory. Get a sheet of 1/8" or 1/4" rubber gasket material at a local autoparts store and put it between the metal and fiberglass on both sides of the boat. Make the hole in the gasket where the bolt goes through a 1/2" oversized to keep the stress away from the holes through the boat.
Silly - Thats a great job - looks a ton better than the first tower I ever built!
