Just had to share this, it's finally done, and my camera is finally working again.

It was originally a Hypercrap Grubb 112.

Damn, I am impressed. That looks great, you must have spent alot of tme on it. You must not hit any sliders to care about the deck that much.

Thanks heaps guys, it took a while, so I'm happy it turned out so well.

Nah, I don't hit sliders with the skate. Even if I had any, i'm to crap to try... Smile
I just used ordinary spray paint and some masking tape.

Yeah, I have had some bad experiences with HL.

About 3 weeks after I got the skate, huge craks started to appear all over it, and it started getting waterlogged pretty badly. I sent it in to my shop and asked about the warranty. I was told it was my fault that it was getting waterlogged, because I hadn't coated it with anything for the wood (I'm not supposed to anyway) , and they refused to warranty it.
I was told to go coat it myself and just live with it, its not our problem.

Now the skate has enourmous cracks all through it and one side has a gap about 2mm wide between the layers of wood.

Screw HL, I'm never buying one of their products again, if I can help it...

And that is my touching story about my wakeskate... Very Happy

Same thing happened to my Grubb and I talked to Paul O'brien about it and he told me to send it back and they will warrenty it, but NOT to paint it will vois the warrenty. I sould get my new Catalyst in about 2 weeks.

I remembered your story and told them about it, but they wouldn't have a bar of it. Told me to go paint some marine wood stuff on it, and deal with the cracks already there...
Thats the reason I painted it, I figured there really isn't any warranty to void.

Sorry about the rambling, I'm still pissed about it. Crazy Eyes

all hyperlite skates crack and get waterlogged. thats prolly why they went to foam because wood and water dont mix.

Sounds like your local shop is the problem. Mine has sent off bindings 2 years old and got me the warranty work done for nothing. Cant complain about their products.

J Robinson, I am sorry man that is your shop not Hyperlite. That is the reason they went back to foam cores, less snap but longer life.

No, no, I actually left it at the shop so the owner could look at it and contact HL Australia. He rang me back 2 days later and told me they wouldn't warranty it.

Who cares, whats done is done. The skate looks better painted anyway. It also adds a bit of weight to it.

My buddy's cassette is two years old and not waterlogged...and way better than any "hypercrap" I have ever ridden. their skates suck (for me at least) but their boards are good. The cassette blows my hyperlite OUT OF THE WATER. I'm workin on gettin one for myself.
