Hey all. Does anyone know how to do a dock start on a wakeboard? I have a ski dock and I'm thinking that I could stand on the edge and jump. I'll take any suggestions and your help will probably keep me from killing myself. This is my 2nd wakeboard season, but I've been waterskiing forever. I can do a flying dock start on slalom ski, you known the old one footer jumper. But wakeboarding is so much cooler that a flying dock start like that would be awesome!

yeah dock starts are very common and easy too. Just get the line to where it is almost tight, but with about 4-5 feet of semi-slack and then have the driver hit it and when the line gets tight just jump in the water and lean back and bend your knees. As for doing a flying dockstart where the boat pulls you off the dock and you jump at the end, i've done it before on a plastic dock that was smooth, but I wouldn't do it on a wooden dock. It will just scrape the hell out of your board.

Good luck, hope it helps.

Just make sure that you jump before he guns it before you will have a dock sandwich..or faceplant in the water from the dock..I have a 5 foot dock...no problems its really fun..and if you live in Canada its a good idea because the water is 50 degrees

I agree, even wetsuits (shorty's) don't help in Canada.

And if jumping off doesn't work for you, just sit on the dock, with board in water and have him gun it, thats even easier, but doesn't look as cool
