|
|
| aright guys i apologize for making yet another backroll thread but i seem to be having a problem that nobody else in the world is having with the trick...i can do the backroll every time and i can land on the board every time but i can't seem to ride away for some reason...my knees just lock up for some reason and when i land i just bounce and my board blows out from under me...should i just soften my knees as soon as i am in the air?...also alot of my problem i think is that i get all discombobulated in the air and don't realize that i've already flipped all the way around until i hit the water...any help would be greatly appreciated thanks |

I think you are not spotting your landing and thus not ready for the impact and do not react in time to absorb the shock. that or you are hucking it really fast and your board just hits the water and keeps going. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

| sounds like savage is right. i just landed my first backroll after about 30 attempts no joke. and for about the first 20 attempts, i didnt even pop i just flipped early and didnt get any air...cause i was scared of digging the nose. its VERY important to edge all the way up the entire wake and straighten your legs at the end TRUST ME. this way your flip wont be all messed looking and you will get more air and more time to flip meaning more time to spot your landings. |

a short and VERY progressive cut really helps. the line tension from your progressive cut is what does the rotation for you and you have to do almost nothing. this makes your rotation slower and more lofty wich gives you more time to spot your landing. and you are not spinning so fast that your board does not bounce out from underneathe you. I had that same problem last season when I was learning my roll and that is what helped me. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

make sure you're going at it with full commitment to landing, or at least making it across the wake - a backroll is one of the easiest tricks to blow a knee out with if you were to hit the upside of the wake. It's better to overshoot it than to come up short. Most importatnly, spot your landing

when you land try to keep cutting in the same direction. thats how i make sure i dont overrotate all my spins, and it seems to work quite well. _________________ www.flukdfilms.cjb.net

It took me a good 5-6 outings to get it right for me when I was learning...but once you get it right, you get it right all the time. _________________ Keep Austin Weird |

| If your not spotting the water then maybe your dropping your head throwing more of a mexi roll? a vid or pics would be good. |

| Are you closing your eyes?...I finally got it this weekend...well kinda, you'll hear about it in the thread I'm about to start...But I wasn't opening my eyes and I had no idea where the water was, so I'd hit the impact really hard b/c I wasn't prepared for the landing. |

| I know what your problem is... What you are doing is right when you are about to land you realize that you are gay. Once you realize this you think to urself that gay people dont land backrolls. So do everyone a favor and stop wakeboarding...it is painful to watch. |

haha thanks for the support whirly5master lol...nah i actually feel like i can do the trick now just by spotting that landing...when i focus on spotting the landing i come really close to landing so hopefully it's just a matter of time...i just left home and moved into my dorm at college so it'll be difficult to ride for a little while but they actually have a wakeboarding club here at school so hopefully i can join up |
