first (successful) w2w today!

Went wakeboarding for several hours this afternoon with some friends. I finally landed 3-4 w2w's (out of many many attempted ones). The first time i landed a w2w, the entire thing was so smooth, which was a surprise because my normal landings are usually anything but. I'm getting decent pop and my progressive edge seems fine, but I have most of my trouble landing. I tried looking at the opposite horizon while i was in the air, but that gave me problems. So basically, what are some things I can work on, and concentrate on when i'm in the air. I've been working on head up, back straight, rope in towards front hip, and i still have problems landing most of my jumps.

And on my first butterslide attempt ever, i pulled it off perfectly Very Happy

I almost have my w2w now. I just need to go back out one more time. I just noticed that nobody said congrats so I thought I'd say it. Keep it up!!

Making sure your knees are bent helps out a lot. And a lot of it just comes from jumping the wake again and again until you feel comfortable with your landing.

Isn't it cool when you clear the wake? I'm an old toad, so just being able to do a w2w feels good

watch out for them butterslides - they're so easy, you forget to keep them toes up.

And I'm hear to tell you, that a butterslide pile up hurts more than a w2w gone wrong... Laughing

is it pretty much impossible to go w2w off a boat that doesnt have a tower/ski pylon and has a small wake? Thats what I have to deal with for now, I wakeboard off my 15' Whaler. Hey, it's better than nothing, but I'm beginning to think I'll never go w2w off it.

I feel for zito cuz i have same boat but 2 feet longer... it is hard to get enough air. but im looking to buy a pylong and about 500 lbs of fat sacks. when i do that ill tell you how it works out.

I board behind a 19ft ski boat. has a decent wake but no pylon/tower. At first i didnt think i would ever be able to go w2w or get much air b/c the rope was pulling me back down, but now im able to go w2w.

Congrats! Im still trying to land mine! But ever since i cut my head open from a w2w gone wrong im kinda chicken, even with a helmet now! haha, but i figuire next time i go out i will try to land it again... Congrats congrats congrats!!!

oh dont get me wrong, I can still do tricks on it, it's just hard to go w2w. As for the size of the wake? I really can't tell, but certainly quite small.

i'm here to tell all you guys that to get the w2w down, the progressive edge makes things 10 times easier. i thought i was doing progressive edges right, but then a pro i know was showing me some stuff, and as soon as the rope slacks out, edge a little, then harder, and then edge all the way up. that way you land on your edge to, and if ur nose comes up, don't freak out, just hang on to the rope

think of the motion as a sort of a small piece of a large circle. And a progressive edge definately makes everything much easier. With that, W2W jumps should be almost effortless.

i've had one of my worst wipe outs doing a butterslide 180.... it was like an aerial faceplant. the wakeboard was like 10 feet away from me when i resurfaced. yeah... my head kinda hurt after that one.
