I've been trying to get 180s down and have had very little luck. Friend suggested trying them on the wake and I can often do it but once I get going swith the other foot leading I freak out and bail.
Any suggestions on how to get comfortable riding with the other foot (there must be another name for this so maybe you all can fill me in). I can get up goofy or regular but as soon as I really get up, I drop when I'm on the other foot. |

| yeah you have to practice riding switch more. The easiest way is to get up starting out switch. Then just practice that until you are comfortable staying up and can turn. Then you're ready for some surface 180s, lipslide 180s, ollie 180s, or wake2wake 180s. |

| Yeah practice riding switch. Thats basically the only way to get good at 180's. Plus you need it later on. |

yep, practice switch, practice switch, practice switch.
once you're comfortable riding switch try wake jumping switch, then w2w switch, both heelside and toeside. Once you can stick those landings the 180 will be easier, and it can be easier to do a switch 180 'cause then you land regular. But you should learn it everyway. _________________ Some female cows have horns, but you wouldn't really know anything about that now would you? |

Here's a couple of things that helped me learn to ride switch better:
1. Make sure your bindings are the same both in your regular stance and switch. Alot of people toe-out their natural front foot and square off their natural back foot. Get them both set the same a little duck footed.
2. When you ride switch, keep your back straight, and try to put the knee of your front foot over your toes. Sounds strange but it works.
3. Stay on your heel side for a while in the flats, then start to learn to carve the board by shifting your weight from heel to toe just as on your natural stance.
Once you get pretty good at riding switch, try the toeside 180 first from your natural toe side to the switch heelside riding position off one wake. That's the easiest |

| Try riding switch on a skateboard when you are can't get in the water. Wakeboarding and skating are 2 different worlds but it will help with the strange backwards feeling. It will help. |

| Thanks for all the suggestions. Hope to try them out this weekend. Crazy thing is if I push around on a skateboard I am regular, wake or snowboard goofy. So you'd think I'd be comfortable in either stance. Stupid brain. |

| s_finch, I have a friend like that. When he started skateboarding he would push regular but doing a standing ollie he would do it goofy... he never got very good so I think that's where he still is. |

| Try to let go of your lead hand and you'll just naturally start to come around for frontside anyway. |
