Nice question. It's a tough one for some people. My guess is that a lot of people are going to put "Suits you style of riding" just cuz they don't want to admit they ride a Hyperlite Parks cuz Bonifay is their fav. rider. So many boards for the '05 but only so much money to spend...

all of the factors matter to me, except who's pro model. What I look for first is style, shape size, thing. Then comes brand, then graffics (yep has to be pretty), then price, price is often the deal breaker.

Here's my preference list:

1. Length: I must have a board that's 141 cm or bigger. Just due to my size.

2. Width: I generally like wider boards. They tend to be a bit slower and pop better.

3. Rocker Size: I like a lot of rocker. You might be surprised I didn't say rocker type. The reason is because I've found boards I really like that are continuous, and boards I really like that are abrupt 3-stage.

4. Tracking/Edge: I don't like fast boards as much. I prefer slower boards where I can edge hard but not necessarily be flying at 200 mph towards the wake.

fro me its gotta be the right size and shape, and then brand based upon the quality. but that is not really a concern nowadays as most of the larger companies all make good boards. then graphics. i can care less about who rides it. Oh yeah and price starts up there at the top. If I can't pay for it...I can't get it Crying or Very sad Laughing

Yeah I believe these results are flawed. There are so many that read that a board rides this way & they want to ride that way so they go against the grain to how they think they should ride. One thing I was guilty of in the past was reading that a board did certain things that I liked well & so I fixed in my mind that it was the board for me. Demo all boards & you will be much happier. Or just buy a Parks board, that works too...

I ride a parks because parks rides it!

Not really, but i needed a board with a more agressive style, plus the 03 was on sale at a board shop around me

i do care a little about the graphics too, but im not going to buy new bindings just to match my board

I look for what I like. Graphics are important to me but certainly not the first thing I look for. Pat and I are similar in taste about rocker. I have two boards I consistently ride. One being a continuous and the other being abrupt 3-stage. I think the '04 byerly boards have some of the sweetest graphics but I thought the board itself was just way too slow for me.

Once I've ridden a board and have decided whether it fits my style, I look to see if I can afford it then whether I like the way it looks. Obviously looks are unimportant to how you are gonna ride but it's nice to have a good piece of art on the board rack in your room or on the tower.

Graphics are a plus, but I only buy boards that'd suit my style.

Guys, I got lucky with my set up. It's hard to demo stuff here, unless you want to drop 50$ a pop to test ride. This will sound dumb, but I used HL's chart for overall feel. I went with the Premier(03) because it was in the middle of all their boards at the time.
I've ridden some others since, but haven't found one I like as well.
I do like wider boards with more rocker, and I like riding without my center fins. I can't say much about rocker type yet.

At this point, with my limited experience, I would say size and shape 1st, graphics ( cuz it has to look sweet ), price, brand, and I don't really care who's name is on it.
kswiss, your gun comment in your signature is too funny! Laughing

this is how i narrow it down

1. brand
2. size
3. speed
4. pop

but it is always a plus when your happy with the board and the graphics.

How i narrow it down

1. Style (shape, size, speed etc.)
2. Price
3. Brand
4. Graphics

But to really have a board you like it usually tends to have all this stuff. Your not gonna buy just on brand, or price or graphics, maybe on style, but usally all this stuff is involved.
