|
|
Hey guys,
I just got my first wakeboard 2 days ago. When i first tried it i couldnt stand up at all. i was being towed by my dads boat(a searay). Anyways, i was wondering is it easier to start out being pulled by a jet ksi or a boat. My dads boat takes a long time to get up to speed, but my jet ski can get up to speed really fast. So would i be better off using a jet ski to learn on or a boat. Also, my jet ski is a yamaha waverunner 3gp, its got a 701cc engine and makes about 80hp, do you think it could get me up to speed quick enough? Any help is appriciated, Thanks a lot guys |

If I were you, I'd just stick to the boat. However, what kind of boat do you own? If its an inboard or I/O I'd probably take it over the jetski, but if its an outboard motor then the I'd have to think about it. If you're really not sure though, you can just try getting up on both and see which one you prefer. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

Just try the jet ski and see if you can get up with it. Then you'll know if it's not being fast enough on time or if you just can't get up. _________________ Some female cows have horns, but you wouldn't really know anything about that now would you? |

I think the searay would be an inboard outboard. And i think theres nothing wrong with an outboard motor. But oh well Just use the boat it pulls fast enough. And it might be whos driving isn't hittin it quick enough. you wanna hit it when you get up
You get up fast not slow |

Wakeboarddrumma, when you get up you dont wanna gun it real hard. And no, you can get up as slow as you'd like as long as you stay back on your heels and let the boat do all the work. You dont need to hit it. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

| yes, the sea ray is a inboard/outboard. Its not the driver, when the rope gets tight, my dad lays down the throttle and it still doesnt seem to be fast enough. Im gonna try the jet ski tomarrow and see if its any different. But, do you think that a 80hp jet ski has enough power to get me up? |

| haha wakeboarding behind a jetski over a boat? HAHA are you serious? The boat shoudl pull ya up, unless you suck really bad it doesn't take much to get outta the water. The jetskis have no wake whatsoever. |

Powaman, he is just learning, he does not need a wake yet. Once he gets good enough for it to matter, then he could switch, and would get up fine behind the underpowered boat. I agree with Mister C, just try both, and see which one is better for you. Just remember that you have to have a spotter on the jet ski, we got busted for that towin a tuber... _________________ "There are two things I cannot stand in this world, people who are intolerant of other peoples cultures, and the Dutch" |

I have never seen anyone get pulled behind a jetski. Thats just some crazy buisness. I would say if your boat can't build up enough speed to pull you out of the water then its time to tell your dad that he needs a new boat. |

Numberone_Newbie1, people get pulled by jetskis all the time. Its used more prominently in wakeskating, but some use jet skis for wakeboarders as well when they're hitting rails or dont have access to a boat. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

| i went wakeboarding today and it was a lot easier to learn on my jet ski. It could pull me up easier. I can now stand up and go all the way up and back in the lake |

I like riding behind a jet ski as a beginner because its easier to get the rope back once you fall, alot quicker when you are constantly trying new things and not being very successful... _________________ Support your local boardshop...

| we ride behind the jetski's whenever we put our slider in the water, its much easer to position the boat (ski) where it needs to be to hit the slider |

ProcircuitCR80, congrats Now that you can get up, you might want to go behind the boat so you have a bigger wake to jump,
or atleast start trying to cross and play with the jet ski wake. |
