|
|
A friend of mine is looking at new boats, and was told by a Malibu dealer in Austin that all GM-based marinized powerplants are going to have a 15% price increase for 2005. This doesnt make sense to me, since I am under the impression that GM sells standard long blocks, and that it is PCM, Merc, indmar, marine power, etc. that does the marinizing.
Can anyone shed some light on this? _________________ I eat Vegans. Medium-Rare.

GM does have it's own line of marine motors, the Tige's come with GM Vortec motors.
I noticed after you posted that you have a Tige', I'm picking up an '05 Sunday and it has a 5.7l GM motor, the rep did say there was an increase coming on the '05s but I got mine in before the increase. |

Taken from Tige' website:
| Quote: | | ...Tigé GM Vortec engines are fully marinized by MarinePower... |
Also the base price on the 2005 X2 only rose about 300 bucks, so unless MC is eating the 15% or using last year's prices, the dealer might be mistaken. |

That's not exactly true. GM makes more than just the long blocks. Check this site:

| Ruune, I am picking up a 2005 24v Limited on Sunday, got to drive it last weekend and it handles really well. I know the '05 motors do have 5 more horse power, which is not that much difference but every little bit helps right?! |

As do Skier's Choice motors. If an engine upgrade last year was say $1250, it'll probably be $1450 or so this year. Just a guess, don't quote me on it. _________________ www.MidwestMilitia.net |

| Probably has more to do with Indmar's allocation and pricing terms from GM than anything else.... |
