ive seen it happen twice and ive only been riding for a year and a half. on the first one, my friend was trying to do a backroll and it split his head open and it was bleeding all over the boat. he shouldve gone to the emergency room for stitches but he just super glued it back together. the other one, my other friend was just cutting over the wake on his heelside edge, caught the board and did a face plant and the board hit him in the head and split it. the cut was prolly about 3 long. he went and got stitches. i suggest you get a helmit. not only does it really save u from being hit in the head, but it also makes regular crashes a lot less painful.

Yea get a helmet and where it while your learning new things. Thats what ive done since i split my head open. If your just going to go out and relax and not try anything new and just do tricks you know really well then id say dont worry about wearin it but while your learning new things def wear it!

I've never had my board hit me in the head, but it's hit me in my side, hip, legs, and arm pretty bad.

I've been hit in the head a few times. Once was on a backroll crash and the board hit right below where my helmet was on the side of my face, near my ear... I was just really swollen and a little sore for a while, luckily it didn't cut me. Another time was when the board popped off completely, flew up in the air, and landed on my head. I'd definately suggest wearing a helmet. They look goofy, but definately help.

.......just got the helmet the other day for my son. Last week he caught an edge and board gave him the biggest bump I've ever seen. just shy of gashing his head. I hate helmets myself....but considering how freak accidents are frequent......wear the helmet.
