my friend aaron rathy's landing em.. some of you may know him form the pro tourney that was up at Kelowna like last week.. He one pro and wakeskate for it. And it was his frist tourney and first year of riding. He did them easily, he looked over his back shoulder as he took of the wake and passed the blind 180 and then whipped it across his chest. Though I've seen Kevin Henshaw take them straight up then do the bs 3. Just an idea.

i think i have posted tips on this a few times so you may want to search and i will have some stuff in greater detail but what you want to do is pop heavy off your front foot. This forces your back intot the handle so you can get the early handle pass ( you want to go for it right off the top of teh wake) It is key you take this trick off the top of the wake b/c if not you wont get an easy rotation. from once you get teh handle make sure you keep looking over your shoulder and pin that handle to your hip. if you can try to get your lead hand back on the handle it helps alot with body position and rotation. even if your hand doesn't make it back on it still helps alot. Some times it takes a while to dial in how hard you have to throw the flip of the wake. If you have trouble just pay attention to how hard you are throwing it off the top and make adjustments. Also try to take it straight up off the wake. thats bout all i got for ya....

i tried some handle pass roll-blinds yesterday and landed 2 of them just popping the handle. Now i really really want to try a moby.

the main things i'll remember: Frontfoot heavy, POP straight up off wake, grab handle quick, keep rope pinned to hip after pass, try and land 2 hands.

couple more things...should i take a long and smooth approach, short and hard or just come in haulin'? do i want to huck the flip hard, or just start the flip and have the handle pass complete the rotation?

thanks for any tips

the edging is just like a tantrum cut, fairly agressive progressive edge then squaring up to the wake. You throw it just as hard as a regular tantrum, but you may need to experiment a little bit with how hard once you start trying it to dial it in.

Although i don't know that handle pass roll to blinds will help you much with a mobey, sounds like you may want to go for a kgb instead. Same idea after you get the handle though, keep you head turned, pin that back hand with the handle to you hip wand try to get your lead hand back on the handle

I also rememebr him saying he coasted in more with a wider cut, almost over squared the wake b4 he took it up making it look like Steve Mckinleys tantrum to blind sort of and then finished it wiht the final handle pass.

adam greer- i didnt mean to sound like that was prep for a moby, i am just getting a feel for upside down handle passing. thanks for your help, i will try one tomorrow

i can only pass mine late, definitely one thing i need to learn is an early pass on roll to b. Anyway good luck man, let me know if i can help you some more

i tried a couple over the weekend. i came in swift, pop well off the wake, and when right for the handle. when i was fully inverted in the flip, the handle popped very quickly, turning it into an early pass tan2blind. atleast i landed on the board tough.

what can i do to keep the handle within reach?

so the handle is getting pulled out?

Pop heavier off your front foot and turn your head alittle harder off the top of the wake. The pass shouldn't be hard at all.

if that doesn't seem to work do the above and go for the handle earlier

Thomas P., can you do a whirlybird? If not they are a lot easier. I have a consistant whirly but can't come close to this trick.

i can do mobys but not whirlys. I got knocked out when i was learning them and i sorta shyed away from them. Once you have a consitent handle pass tantrum to blind the moby should come in a couple trys..
It seems like a whirly would generally be more consistent but so far a tantrum a mobey is one of the easier handle pass inverts i have learned.

i cant even do whirlys on a tramp and i dont know why. whirlys and s-bends are just aboiut the only tricks on the tramp i cant do.

hopefully i will ride tomorrow, and will definatly get this down.

i tried another. same thing happened, handle was pulled away off the wake, and it turned into a LOW tan2blind. i didnt take it off the top of the wake and i know why thats important for hte trick.

i will try some more next time out.

i also learned how to switch whirly on the tramp. i was close to a reg one but the switch came sooo easy! maybe try some of these also.

What I've been told is to actually start the pass as you rise up the wake. This way the handle is really close when you leave the wake and therefore making the pass easier. Perhaps try them off the D-up, one can always use a little extra air time.

wakeguy2008- thats doesnt make sense. how can a handle pass invert compare with a simple invert?

i think he was just talking about on the tramp...

right when you square up start going for the handle... congrats on the nuclear tantrum that is a super hard grab to get. What did you change in your pop off the wake to grab because i get my fingers on the the top of the board and the it gets pulled away before i can grip it. I can grab crail and almost seatbelt...

to get a nuclear grab, once you have popped off the wake, stick your chest wayy up to the sky and bring only your front knee up (as far as you can) while leaving your rear leg somewhat straight . this puts the nose just within reach for your rear hand to cross over to. the tighter you can get the board near you, the easier the reach is to cross. add a slight twist in the hips if its not cutting it.

sorry to bring back such a dead thread, but was out to day and was going to end my set, but got back in to boots to try some mobys and in 2 tries, i completed the trick, landed, facing the boat, and coasted to a slow sink! (didnt have the handle) i cant figure out how to get the damn handle. i know i must be getting closer, because i had enough pull off the wake to actually spin the full bs 3.

If there are any more handle grasping tips out there id like to hear them, once i hang on to the string, i will be all over this.

one more tip - don't arch your back. I learned whirlys fairly easily because my tantrums at that time were like layouts... When I first started trying dicks I would arch my back the same way, and that kept me from being able to quite finish the rotation on both the flip and spin. if you stay somewhat straight up and down and you're getting the handle, you should get it.
