Well bit the bullet this week-end and found a replacement for my old faithful i/o. My first DD boat.! Doesn't really compare to alot of the boats I've seen on this site but, it's mine and I'm stoaked.! There is not too many ski boats up here in Ontario Canada and when you do find 'em the go for a mint (way over priced). Drove down to PA and picked this one up for $7,000usd a fair price in my opinion what do you think.?
Has a great ski wake, and since I still ski that was important to me. I'm hoping w/ enough weight it will make a fair boarding wake, surely better than my old i/o.
Anybody else w/ an older PS190.? Where did you mount your tunes (head-unit).?
Heres a couple pics.

Nice boat, I too will be making the journey to the US for a boat. Let me know how you make out with weighing it.

Hey Sledneck, Looks like a good clean boat...
I assume you did some "homework" on the motor - compression check that sort of thing?

Yes I did a compression check, and spent half a day on the lake w/ the boat before buying it..

That will be an awsome all around boat. Weight it up and you'll like the wake for boarding.
I'm in my first DD boat after many outboards and I/O's. A year later there are times I really miss the control in reverse, especially in windy conditions which we see on our lake enough I do think about it regularly. With that said I dont see myself going back any time soon.

MonsterTower, the lack of low speed/reverse control was a bit of a concern but after a day on the lake it's no where near as bad as I was especting, a little more care when coming into the dock and that's about it.. I paid my local monstertower dealer a visit (Fenelon Marine) apparently they can't keep them in stock.! Glad to see you guys are gettin' repped up here in Ontario, aprox. 2 weeks until they get some more, looking forward to that too.!
WakeTech, I tried to save myself some tax $$.. You have to pay 15% tax at the boarder on whatever you paid for the boat.. We made the reciept up for $3k, and well unfortunatley the customs agent knew a thing or two about boats and didn't buy it so they seized it. I had to pay 25% of the assesed value to get it back. another lesson learnt the hard way...

That'll do 95% of what most $50k boats will do. And you'll be able to ski behind it too, if you want to.
Enjoy.......

Sledneck,
We were going to try that trick, but we didn't and I'm glad after hearing your story. Were the customs people azzholes after they ruined the day ?

| Looks like a great boat Sledneck! You just can't go wrong with something like that. $7,000 was a heck of a buy.

I have the same boat and you mount the head unit right below the mirror. If you look at the first pick you posted you will see the mirror and then there will be an angled piece of fiberglass that is about 3-4" high. Get your head unit mount and make a template out of cardboard. This template will be used to help you cut out the fiberglass. Mark the area that you want to mount the head unit and use the template to mark where you will be cutting. You will want the right edge of the cut out to be about 4 inches left of your driver side cup holder (where the red cup is placed in the first picture). Cut the area out and mount your head unit there. I will try to get a pick posted of mine so you can see it. Once you are done it looks really clean.
You can get a really nice wake with 2 sacks on each side of the motor compartment and one on the back seat. Make sure you put the 2 sacs as far to the front as possible. That is an 88 right?

Wakeboarddrumma, I see people fishing off ski boats now and then. It seems kinda funny, but I look at it like it's fishing in style

Sledneck, my buddy has that exact boat, learned my first invert behind it! He mounted his head unit right below the mirror. Awsome boat, looks cherry.

Well I've got a few hours on the the boat now a little better than 30.. And I still love it, don't see myself ever owning a i/o again.. For anyone out there looking for great boat that does alot on a tight budget, I don't think you can go wrong..
Anyone out there who has an older MC w/ the 351, do yourself a favour and upgrade to electronic ingnition.. It will be, hands down the best $99 bucks you can spend on your boat.
Here's a couple pics from the week-end..

Nice boat. That really make me want to sell my SUV and my I/O to get a true wakeboarder boat too.

Sledneck,
Have you put some weight in the boat and if so does the nose tip under the water when your slowing down ?
