These are about half the cost of the ones I am looking at so i am assuming that they are half the speaker but i thought it wouldnt hurt to ask.

if i could buy a hyundai for $20, i might pick one up.

orca, search through the forums for speaker cans. a lot of people on this site have assembled them on their own for much cheaper and most of what i've seen looks pretty good. not a real difficult project either.

Aceyx, thanks, im not really trying to save money but if they were a great deal and a good speaker i would go that way. Definatly dont have the time or patience to build my own.

orca, there is one other option... albeit hard to come by and certainly not as good looking (and not as loud but still tons better than car audio speakers): EVID Speakers.

http://www.proaudiosuperstore.com/Electro-Voice-EVID-6-2.html

I'm sure there are other stores that sell them as well. A sidenote: you will have to fab them up to make them work, but honestly it's not that hard. Bill from monstertower (thats also his user name here) had mounts made up to bolt these on, you may want to PM him about it if you are interested.

Well what do you think constitutes the nvs's costing a 1000 buks more, I would hope that if I decide to go with them they are absolutly incredible. Which it sounds like they are.

So you like JL audio, which 12" and could i buy 1 amp to power the 2 nvs's and 1 12 or do I need to run 1 to the sub and one to the nvs's?

orca, the NVS speaker uses a vastly superior HLCD (high freq driver), larger LF drivers, and you are paying for all that shiny metal, clamps, connectors, etc.

Just as with regular speaker cans - you may be paying for a lot of the "bling" factor, but I have to believe with Duane's you are paying for a lot due to cost of the speakers themselves.

I'm not sure which JL model... it really depends on your space limitations, power, etc. You may want to ask a local shop or have a local shop build and install the subs.

Orca, you cannot go wrong with NVS, they are that good and they are that expensive for a reason.

My stereo guys do all of the installs for the local Supra and Malibu dealer. They also build their own tower systems. They assured me that the NVS speakers would not compare to theirs. So I had them do the install and very begrudgingly they admitted that the NVS were the loudest damn things they had ever installed. They also said that my system was the best sounding system they had done to date.

I have the NVS tower speakers, kicker k65's for the interior and a JL W3 12" in a ported box.

A Precision Power 4800 runs the NVS and JL while an Adiobahn 2150 (put in for Bling and the fact that it matches the NVS speaker cover) to run the interior speakers.

The only thing that I would recommend is to make sure that your tower is solid enough to handle the weight of NVS as they are quite heavy. 80lbs plus. Contact Duane at NVS to confirm weight.

If you decide to pull the trigger, you will not be dissappointed.

You will have to design your own mount but, KLIPSCH SA-3's hit hard and rock for a long distance. They can be bought online for $600.

Franz,
I've been wondering if anyone else had checked out the SA'3. Nice set up. I would compare them to the Evids in terms of performance (which I finally got a chance to hear this last weekend). By that I mean a good value in a relatively small enclosure. The Evids each use 2 woofers of smaller size as compared to the SA3 with a single 8. The Sensitivity per spec (94 dB) is slightly better then most units using car audio. For reference, the NVS Entity 1010 Sensitivity is 97 for the woofers, 106 for HLCD.
By the way, the weight of the NVS Entity's are up there but not quite 80. Each module weighs in at 37 lbs. (shipping weight of course is a bit more)
D out

I wouldn't suggest those speakers on ebay. Like said earliar in this post go with NVS. They are well worth the money.
