Now that my boat is leaking, not shifting into reverse all the time, bilge pump has gone out, antifreeze leaking, and yesterday it sounded like the piston in the back of the engine is pinging if you get it over about 10.

Time to dump the pile of garbage and get a new boat. Has to be a new one so I can get the extended warranties and not have to pay for engine repairs for a couple years.

I know there has to be more bands that are cheap out there, I just need to know what they are.
Bayliner 175,185 $11-$14k range. My local bayliner dealer also has the 225 model with the wakboard tower for $22k which seems to be an awesome price, but I dont think the jeep would tow that boat.

Tahoe boats, They have several from from $13-$14k range. There is a pictue on their moving flash page that shows a small beautiful boat, but I couldnt find out which one it was. I'll attach a pick if anyone can tell me.

What other bow riders are this cheap?

I was looking at Bayliners and a few other new runabouts but decided to go with the 19'8" Svfara SV609. It is a step-over bow rider. I paid $49K canadian for a loaded boat (Merc 350, tower, ballast, heaters, shower, trailer, logos, CD, etc..) but I could have started with a less-loaded model for less money. Without ballast it throws a much better wake than any runabout. After test driving the runabouts and the Svfara there was no doubt in my mind.

4winns, beachcraft, Reinel ( if they are still around, I think they were bought out though )

Searay is a little higher, ebbtide... ...

The list is endless.

Gekko GTS-20, based out at $21k. Add PP, Tower, and engine upgrade and still be about $25k or so. Simply add some ballast for good wakes. Contact me for more information. rider@boarditup.com

I've had good luck with Stingrays in the past for an I/O bowrider.
Price is pretty descent and we got a descent wake out of it.
Only negative is they don't offer a tower option (except for their center console model, kinda odd...)

I'll agree with prestige on the Svfara SV609 though, great boat!
I love mine, great wake!

I got a 2000 Glastron GX185 for $13,000 with a canopy lift, I added a monster tower and 4 blade SS prop for another $1,200. I think my boat rocks! There are good deals out there, just watch for them, I think it's not very smart buying a new boat, you lose $4k-$5k after the first year.

I have a Reinell 180 with a Air Boom tower, racks, amp, tower speakers and 4.3L V6. It cost me $12,000 used with 35 hrs on it. I have been very happy with my boat and it throws a decent size wake. For those of us without an unlimited budget it was a great find.

I would probably be willing to go with a used boat with low hours. However I need a palce to trade my sack of crap in and do my financing for me. I'll have to call around to a few used boat lots and see what they have.

Wow that is a beautiful boat and on about $13-$14k. I didnt see an option on the lowest 2004 model (1800) to add a tower on though. I guess you must have to get an aftermarket one installed.

Closest dealer to Nashville is 135 miles, bummer. Going to call and see what they have anyways. This Maxum 1800 and the Bayliner 175 are the two most cost effective boats ive found so far. The Bayliner comes with a tower stock for the same price as the maxum but I like the seating in the Maxum better. Both will fix into my garage.

My garage is 20 feet deep and 7 feet 11 inches wide at the gargage door (wider inside). So its got to be a tiny boat to slide up in there for the winter.

Any other manufacturers that are inexpensive?

I've been real happy with Moomba, I think I would rather get a stripped Outback and add stuff later instead of an I/O

The boat in the picture is a Tahoe 204. Nice deck boat. We just bought a new Tahoe Q5 about a month ago, and really like the boat. Great ride and power, and decent wake.

There is no such thing as a "Low cost new boat". My So called low cost new boat was almost 16,000, a 04' Monterey 180. But I wouldn't trade anything for the new boat. If you are buying a boat you oviuosly arn't by ing it for an investment. Investments are intended to go up in value over time. I've heard so many horror stories about used boats and experienced some myself. So for me the thought of a warranty means alot. I know a lot of you will disagree but if you ever had to bum a tow into the ramp from the other side of the lake, you know the feeling. You might lose 3,000 dollars the first year but if your outdrive goes out and you need a new one it would probably cost you that much just to get back on the water.

Just my two cents

MY used boat is getting worse by the day. Im not sure if the previous owner knew it was going to S or not. We took it out for a test drive for several hours and I had it a while before it started falling apart.

I have been stranded out there a couple times. Almost sunk cause the bilge failed. Engine is knocking.

Warranty means everything to me at this point. Not only the 1 year warranty but the 1 year mercruiser + 2 year extended warrany Smile

Your $16,000 boat is what I mean by low cost. I know its not really low cost and I'd have to finanace that thing for 10 years at $16k. I jus tput low cost in here with the hopes of getting some good boat brands that have $16k boats. a $26k boat does me no good.

I'm also trying to find one to fit into my gargage. The opening is 7'11" and the deptth is 20'. The Maxum has one that will fix, so does the bayliner. I belive the small 185LS stingray would fit too. I like the stingray but they told me they wont take a trade in!

you might want to look at the volvo engine. It has a 2 year standard warranty vs. a 1 yr for merc. It also has a better cluch system. I have a glastron 195sx with a 4.3 volvo in it. I put the monster tower on there and I have about 17,500 in the whole deal. It is a very nice boat for the money. Not to many bells and whistles, but it performs ver nice.

There is a Glastron less than 2 hours from me. I shot them an email.

I found a lot about three hours from me that has some bayliner 175 for $10,.9k. I asked them if they would drop that price cause the 2005 will be out in a month and they said no!

There is a stingray lot near me and I really liked one of the 18 foot models they had, but they told me they wont take trade ins at all!

But you cant get what you cant afford Smile

There is a lot nearby with some Caravelle 176 bow riders. They look pretty nice on the inside. The two captain chairs and bench seat is the way to go.

psudy, yeah, you get an inexpensive boat that is every bit as good as the rest, without all the fluff.

I have been around Bayliners for many many years and have had very little problems with them - and what did go wrong was either minute or was expected maintenance.

Ive notice that looking at the Bayliners. Functionality wise it would be the exact same as a Caravelle or a Stingray but the Caravelle will look a little nicer but cost a little more.

Will most new boat dealers finance $1k more than the cost so you would have the money to get a $1k tower put on elsewhere?

I've had my bayliner now for over 3 years and the only things to go wrong were things I fixed myself. I've never taken it to a mechanic.

Most of the people that bash Bayliner are the same people who take their cars and boats in to have the oil changed by someone else.

Bayliner ( bog liner ) had problems in the 80s. It seems most of the quality problems have been solved in the 90s.

Some have a thinner hull than other boats, you can see a flashlight shining through it, but that just means a 10 year boat as opposed to a 20 year boat.

Any opinions on the Caravelle 176BR? The Bayliner shop just got one of these in, its got yellow down the side, captain chairs, sundeck with the bench back seat, bimini top, asking $15.5k. Its a sharp looking boat.

I couldnt find any information on Caravelles warranty.

Leggester, the hull is lifetime warranted - so I would say 20 year + is not out of the question.

We must have lucked out with out 87 Babeliner - we had zero real problems with it.

PCM,

I have an '02 Caravelle 176 with a Monster Tower. It is a great boat for the money. Plenty of compliments, and the funny thing is, it really doesn't cost much more than a Bayliner, yet is viewed as a much better boat. No problems so far, and it throws a nice wake with 3-4 people on board. I paid $13,800 for it brand new back in '02.

Can you put your Bimini top up with the tower up? The tower on the one I'm looking at '04 176BR is pretty big.

Anyone have any experience with VIP boats? A lot has an '04 YELLOW VIP Viva. Its almost as sharp as the Caravelle but has more yellow in it. Also has the Merc 3.0 instead of the Volvo. Cheaper price too.

It says the Deadrise is 16.5. Most of the runabouts have a 19, what is the deadrise?
