I keep seeing references to an ollie, and making sure you can do this beofre you tricks listed in the beginner section, but there is no explanation of just a simple ollie. I can wake-to-wake and ride switch, so now I'm ready for more...

Thanks!!

an ollie is pretty simple, man. all you have to do is push down with ur back foot, then pull the board up. i'm sure u have done it... just getting air without hitting anything is what i'd call it

to learn an ollie i always kinda reccomend "bouncing" out in the flats. but basically you want to push down with your back foot and pull up with your fornt then flatten the board out. form there its just working on timing and stuff.

Do you have to do the ollie to do the move where you hop and flip your board around to switch (or back)?

if u want to try to get more height, you can lean to the front of the board, putting more weight on ur front foot before pushing down with the back one. it gives u momentum

A guy told me that in order to do a bunny hop, you have to push your front foot down quickly (kinda like stepping on sumthing) and it actually works for me.

you weight your front foot, and then (with the right timing) you snap back, putting your weight on your back foot. this gives you more of a pop... this makes your ollies more effortless and smooth, no more awkward looking ollies that look (and feel) like your board is made of cement. GOOD LUCK GETTING IT DOWN! Razz

This probably isnt the best ollie I did but its the only one I have a picture of. You can see from the water that the board was kinda stuck to to water til it released.

So you weight the front foot? I usuall just push down with the back, bring the front foot up and then suck the back leg up into my to level off the board. I do it like I would on a skateboard.

Yeah, the whole thing with the weight on the front foot i have never tried, or heard of. I do it exactly like simland said....But when i ollie, it doesn't even really feal like the board is leaving the water, but my friend in the baot says i am getting around a foot or so. I have only tried it like 5 times. For practicing, try and going outside the wake, then when some wakes from another boat or something are coming up where you are going to hit them almost perpendicular, try and ollie off them.

If you watch the relentless trailer a guy pulls off a really sweet ollie 180. It looks like he weights the front a little. And yea I expereicen the feeling where the board feels like it is glued to the water but I apparently get air.

MAN! That guy looks like he barely pushes down at all! He leans on his front foot a little and then just soars into the air.

The only thing I can see that I have never tried is being on edge when I do an ollie. I barelly get 2 inches out there. He looks like hes up pretty good on edge and then does the manuver.

I went for an ollie 180 today and landed it as a 90. I let go right as I realized I wasn't going to get the board around but I had already hit the water at 90 degrees. Funny part is that I just ended up doing a butterslide out in the flats. Thank god, I prefer that to the horrible face plant I expected.

the weight on the front foot is slight and it kinda loads the board for the snap. it sorta sinks the whole board in more and then releasing the front foot and pushing down with the back foot get the board in deep and at an angle that just the water moving past the board pushes you up.
