|
|
This past Sunday I went wakeboarding for the first time... Most fun ive had in a while.
I used my uncles wakeboard then... and he is 200 miles away, so there is a littly bitty problem.
I have about 350 to spend on everything and was wondering if any of you had suggestions. From all the other posts ive seen it seems like testing out some diff. boards is the best way for me to decide...
Ive been looking at some different boards online... but I doubt that the specs can tell me which one I will like the most... So im open to any sugg. on which brands I should try.. things like that
I dont know if my height and weight matter too much.... but I am about 6-2 and weigh around 193... if that helps any
I would appreciate any suggestions. |

| with only 350 to spend you dont have many options. id just try and find whatever you can for that price. try looking on ebay or in the classified section on here. as far as size goes your gonna want a 140+ board. |

I could prob. afford a $400 package if I really need it.
Thanks for the help so far..... _________________ "LSU will be rolling toward its third SEC championship in four seasons."

ProbyOne, find a used board, an 03' or an 02'; those things are fairly new and sometimes sell cheap |

BurkeViper, That's how I got my first board. Bought an '02 Belmont instead of an '03 at the end of last year and picked it up at a VERY reasonable price.

Welcome to the sport and Wakeboarder.com!
First, from your size you should probably look at something above 140 cm. Something in the 140-144 cm range would work.
Do you have any local shops you can demo a board at? _________________ Pat McCarthy |

| I picked up an '03 Double Up Soul 145 with bindings for just over $220 on eBay, brand new. Great deal I think. I'm 6'4" 185 and it's got better pop and is less tiring to ride than my buddy's O'Brien 137 I started on. Shop around! |

First of all thanks... its an awesome website and a helluva sport!
There are a couple of places in Huntsville (25 miles from here) that should let me demo some... But I havent been to check them out yet (saw them in the phone book).
I just read a post from wakeboard:

Guess that's one of them... _________________ "LSU will be rolling toward its third SEC championship in four seasons."

i'm with BurkeViper and leslisa, try and find something used or at least last year's model.
i put together a setup for $400 (03 tfd biolite and 03 parks) just watching ebay, checking this and other* classifieds.
the board was suggested to me by a friend and thus far i'm really happy with it. i've only been fewer times than i can count with both hands so even if i demo'd, i'm not sure what i'd be looking for. i didn't have a "style" to fit a board to, basically.
now i'm kind of wishing i had gone around and tried everything but it's better to at least be able to ride. |

Ok I dont want to open a new topic, so i will post here.
Im buying a wakeboard(my first) and I need a little help. I come from Slovenia(Europ), where we dont have a lot of choice. This is what i can get here
Wakeboard Jobe-Fathom 141 + Boots Response(578,26 USD)
Wakeboard Jobe-Moai 141 + Boots Response(478,88 USD)
Wakeboard Jobe-Axis 139 + Boots Response(508,99 USD)
Wakeboard Blindside-Session 142 + Judge Boots(689,70 USD)
Wakeboard Blindside-Stingray 137 + Judge Boots(689,70 USD)
Wakeboard Obrien-Ambush 143 + Hidroslide Chaser Boots(296,07 USD)
Wakeboard Exell-Fire + Exell Pro Boots(457,26 USD)
Can anyone tell me what is worth buying. I weight 173lbs, and 185cm tall. I have been snowboarding for about 7 years, so i dont think i need a beginers board(or am i wrong).
