come in faster and just make sure you are fully turned and extended off the very TOP of the wake. squaring up at the top is key to getting both the pop and the rotation.

If you do it right you just have to relax. cut in, back off edge, the wake will trip you into the tantrum. You don't have to spin fast, just float out a laid out tantrum. You do not need to push off hard at all. explain how you cut right now and will be easier to help.

You want as much speed at the wake as possible, this doesnt mean edging out of control though. Just use the quick pregressive edge and then turn the board at the wake, its really simple. Also, if you can get your hands on a trampoline you just need to learn a backflip and it makes the tantrum so easy.

Steelerguy, you don't have to throw it, it will start itself. This is a relaxed trick so If you cut in hard, back off edge and stand up, it will pop you up and back into the tantrum. If you think about hucking a backflip you will leave to early. Don't go back hard until you feel that pop and upward lift, it may feel awkward at first but it will give you the time to open up and land like a normal wake jump.

An added tip is to do the trip flip edge when riding up the wake.
Cut out about 10-15 feet
Cut in hard
At the bottom of the wake flatten your edge and let go with you back hand
Switch edges QUICKLY to the toe edge, (the trip flip). Wait for this, don't rush it; you should not have to actually "throw" the back flip, the wake will do all of the work for you if done correctly..
Throw your head back when switch to the toe edge
Hang on to the rope and spot your landing
Practice this visually first...All of these movements are done fast and smoothly
Good Luck
Can't wait to see you land one in Clarion Steelerguy!!!!!!!! _________________ Don't let go of the rope |

Ive read all there is to read on these boards about Tantrums.
I have yet to be able to tape my self trying them.
I dont know anyone who can do one.
So thats leaves me to trial and error. I have the Co-hoonies to pull it just not the patients. Ill be back on the water soon to try it again. Im doing exactly what you folks are saying, Hucking it, thowing it, ect.
So the concensus is, just like getting up, let the boat / wake do all the work.
Im determined to get a bag of tricks before http://www.navcompany.com/news_detail.cfm?id=161
and even then I may not be able to pull them off cause riding behind a SuperAirNautique is way different from my petty wake. _________________ http://www.wakepics.com/member/Steelerguy

the trampoline really does make the difference, i had my tantrums dialed, and i didnt practice em on the tramp for like a month, well i thought i had it dialed and suddenly went down the shitter, couldnt land anything, got out on the trampoline and practiced for a day, and next session it was just as good as new, so practice, a lot

The one thing i don't get about the tantrum, is physics wise, how does the trip flip work. how does switching your your toe edge (away from the wake) help you to flip backwards. If anything, i think it would face plant you away from the wake, or you will surf carve down teh wake. I'm just trying to visualize it. But i guess it works, since that is what everyone says to do.

wilki911, Think about when you ride a skateboard and all of a sudden you hit a rock which makes you get launched. You are going to fly forward and pretend you have a lot of air, you would probably do a full flip. The tantrum is similar. When you square up you are still going fast forward so it will just want to push you up and send you flying, but you still move forward just like the skateboard example. you are not hitting a wall so you will continue to go forward while being tripped up and into a flip.

Oh, i understand teh tripping part of it, i'm just not understanding how getting tripped on your toe edge, helps you to fly backwards. i'll have to try it out this weekend, when i finally get to go riding. it's been a long couple months. can't wait to finally hit the water.
