My friend has just purchased an 03 Premier. This is his first year riding and he has decided to ride the board finless. He has yet to land a W2W jump and in my opinon has not learned to use his edge properly. Do you think he should put the fins back on? Will they help him to learn to edge? Or do you think it doesn't matter either way? Thanks

With the premier, riding it finless will probably get him to use his edges properly, more than riding it with the fins. Because the premier has large molded-in fins, he will be forced to use the outside of the board to get his hold, which will in turn get him using his edge.

the premier should be a easy board to ride finless, but maybe just try stickin the fins on to see if he does any better

boardstiff, I say keep him finless, without the fins he has to use the edge of his board in order cut; just takes practice like anything else. Give it a little time and if it doesn't work, stick on the fins

He would have better balance and stance if the fin was in and then after he gets use to carving and W2W jumps then take the fins of and he will learn to carve and be on his edge more than to rely on the fins.

1.1 I think...I ride the premier, but I took the fins out the 4th day I had it. now I can't even ride a board with a center fin in it very well. being able to use my edges properly has helped me so much with my riding. he should keep them out and though it may take a bit, he will learn to ride taking advantage of the edges, and love it that way. if he ever decides to go back to using a center fin then he will have no problems beyond the adjustments to having differences in his board, and will still have good edging
