Last weekend I tried and busted about 50 180s. I think from the crunching my stomach and then busting and getting stretched through the water I bruised a muscle in my gut. Today it was about 99% better so I went out and the first time I busted it hurt some more.
Anyone else had something like this happen? |

Few tips....
1. Stop leaning back sooo much. Stand tall
2. When you get to the wake, straighten your legs and stand tall. Your absorbing the wake.
3. Go 18-22 mph. In the first few shots, you look like your going up to speed, but on other ones, you look like your going 10mph.
4. When you are coming to the wake with your progressive edge, get to board on edge, and hold it through the jump.
5. Learn to ride switch. You look like you made it on a few shots, but lost it when you cant control the board.
Id say the main thing that bothers me about the video is your speed.
Good luck next time out. I hope I have helped. _________________ Wake4Life |

Yeah that guys boat that I was on speedometer is broke. I had to just tell him to speed up or down as best I could.
Watching the video I can see about a thousand things that I'm doing wrong. I went out yesterday and cut in harder and stood up straight and maybe even tried to jump at the top of the wake and soared far higher than I ever had.
I also tried getting up from the start riding switch and whew it was hard. I'l have to try more of that when I go out tomorrow.
What do you mean "get to board on edge" ? Do you mean to hit the wake more straight into it?

First things first, dont try and jump when your at the wake. If anything, you should do the opposite and some what push down. If you havent learnd to ollie yet, its best to learn now before you really start trying to get big air. I was having trouble with my wake jumps before I learned how to ollie, but after that, getting the pop I wanted was a breeze.
Learning how to ollie may take some time, but its very simple. Dont try to jump out of the water. Doing that will only help you catch and edge and faceplant. To ollie, push down hard on your back foot, while lifting on your front foot. I say push down hard, but make sure your in control of the board. And dont lift with your front foot too soon. When you push down on the board, it will pop back out of the water. Thats when you want to lift with your front foot, then pull your back foot level with the front. If some extra height, you can lean or rock onto your front foot before switching all your weight to the back one.
After you learn to ollie, try to incorporate it into your wake jump. To start, only go 10 or so feet outside of the wake, and start your progressive edge back in. When you get to the wake, stand tall. When I talked about pushing down when you get to the wake, this is the time to do it. Its not as much pushing down as it is standing tall.
When I talk about gettting the board on edge, Im saying to lean back on your heels so the backside of your board is cutting through the water. Like if you were doing a lip slide, you dont leave the board flat, or you will catch an edge. You want to lean back and bring the toeside of the board out of the water. When you do this, your speed will increase drastically, so its not necessary to take a large approach at the wake. To get good pop, you need to hold the board on edge all the way through the jump. _________________ Wake4Life |

Switch or non switch, either way you'll be riding switch at some time. Taking off is much easier than landing. So yea Switch 9 or maybe a double half cab roll. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects

The water was like the ocean choppy Monday and today it rained from on the way home from work till about 7:45! Im about to die to get out there and try the new ideas!
I tried a couple times getting up switch. Getting up wasnt a problem at all, but staying up was I need to figure out how to stand to get comfy and then I might be ok.
Id like to do the ollie move where you flip the board around. What do you call that? Like if you did a 180 and then were switch and wanted to ollie and flip the board around so you are regular. _________________ Visit www.nashvillewakeboarder.com for riders in the Nashville, Tn area! |

if u want to practice when u cant go, tie ur handle to something, put on ur baord, and pretend like ur riding. Lean back like ur in the watet. It will help u get the feel of riding switch, plus u can adjust ur bindings so its comfortable. _________________ Wake4Life |

When I put on the board in the house and stand on it, Im afraid I'll break it on the floor. Will it hold up? _________________ Visit www.nashvillewakeboarder.com for riders in the Nashville, Tn area! |

Water was too choppy to cut out so today I tried some switch riding. I got up switch and rode for about 5 minutes but I sure wasnt rock solid stable. I couldnt get positioned right. One of my leg's hurts pretty good now. _________________ Visit www.nashvillewakeboarder.com for riders in the Nashville, Tn area! |

pcm2a, What board are you riding? I looks like you need to learn board control first. You also need to keep the handle down at your hip for a more balanced ride.

If you can, do this every time. You can teach yourself alot. |
