| I really wanted to get a tower for our boat but my dad says he doesnt want to spend the money and he doesnt want to drill any holes in our boat. I was wondering if i should look into an extended pilon. I hear they are a lot cheaper and easier to move around than a big tower. What do you guys think? |

| Im in the same kind of position. Not knowing how well a tower would look on a ski boat, my parents and I thought it would be better to buy a pylon, something you can use then store when your done wakeboarding. My parents went to ask the place where we bought our boat, and they said that a pylon was a bad idea. They said i would probably rip it out of the floor of the boat. We are now gonna go ahead and get a tower. There are some as cheap as $600-700, but that still doesnt solve the problem of drilling holes in the boat. Im still not sure if what they told us is true because I always see people using pylons. Your best bet is to go get someone elses unbiased opinion on the matter. I hope you find something... |

Hey Hanneyk55,
Check my gallery for pylon pics, mine cost me $80 to build, I think Bill at MonsterTower was kind enough to put my "how to" instructions on his web site - I drill no holes, the thing takes about 10 minutes to set up and remove...it can be designed to fit any boat - I'll help you thruthe details if you wish...
I'm unclear on DLX134, 's comment about ripping holes in floors - nothing will happen unless your floor is already rotten and then you've got bigger issues. Once again, if you need help, I'll talk anyone thru the entire "load path" of how your weight is translated to the pylon and into the boat...

Hanneyk55, i would try and go with a tower. extended pylons are great from what i hear i have never ridden behind one but they also get in your way right in the midle of the boat. and you have to place your boards around the boat unless you get a rack for then then they are right in your head on the plylon.
i heard the same thing about plylons and towers ripping the boat apart. one boat shop owner told us that and aftermarket tower on our boat would tear it in two and that hed seen it done before. i put a monster on mine and its help up fine. i would defenatly try and go with a tower. i didn want to drill holes ontp my boat either but it looks fine you dont even see the holes, just make sure and take your time.
plus a tower will add to tghe value of your boat. hope this info helps out. _________________ CRAIGkelly.JEFFanderson.TRISTONpicott |

I used an extended pylon for 10 seasons. No problems, no holes, 5 minutes to setup and takedown--same for my tower.
The only downside is you can't put all that "pimped out" stereo equipment and really cool looking lights on a pylon. _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

My friend had an extended pylon for a couple of years and I dont think he ever had to drill any holes in the boat. In fact, they do a great job of raising the rope up, which is basically all a tower is designed to do. Also, setup and takedown is very quick as well, and it is a lot cheaper than going out and buying a tower. _________________ "I knew those girls were pros, but don't tell Turtle, it'll break his heart." - Drama, Entourage |

how do you have a pole without drilling holes into the boat? All the ones i've seen they are drilled into the floor... _________________ This Is My Signature |

The "extended pylon" is exactly what the name implies, an extension of your existing pylon. The pylon is secured by a cable that goes around the bow. A turnbuckle is used to tighten as necessary.
No holes required _________________ I hope the weather is calm as you sail up your heavenly stream |

| okay as long as you have a pylon in your boat you dont need to drill holes if you want an existing pylon. it will not tear a hole in your boat if you use the strap that goes to the bow. there are places that will install a tower. if done properly drilling holes in your boat is no big deal. ive never heard of towers breaking about into that could be posible but i doubt it would happen if you buy the tower from a respectable dealer and have it proffesionally installed. you can find towers that arent that much more than an extended pylon. look into monster tower. |

bigairpylons.com are only $300, thats what Im hoping to get in a month or so. They are alot cheaper than the monster tower, even though the monster tower sure is awesome looking. _________________ Visit www.nashvillewakeboarder.com for riders in the Nashville, Tn area! |
