I'm ready to buy my first boat. I found an '85 Bayliner Bowrider 21ft, with a 305 chevy i/o. It is one of the cleanest used boats I have ever seen. The guy who is selling it said he used it once a year or less, and the rest of the time it was in the garage. Does anyone else have a boat similar to this? If so do you mind letting me know how much you gave for it so i can decide how much to offer him. Any other info on this boat would be great, will it be a good wakeboard boat? |

| I have a 91' Capri. It's a good entry level boat. However you metnioned that it was rarely used. A boat is typically in better condition if it is used often rather than left sitting. |

I'm behind a 90' bayliner capri. This too was my first boat and just purchased it in March. So far its been good. It hasn't sunk yet so thats a plus. I've put maybe 40 bucks into the motor and it starts every time (so far) and runs well. Mine is a 20' with a 305 Chevy. I'd say the wake is decent.
I paid 4k and it came with lots of crap (lifejackets, air horn, ropes, ski's, bamimi top etc). If it fits the budget, its hard to say no, but I'd just make sure your not "settling" for a boat. I was worried I'd regret buying mine but so far I like it, even when i pull up beside an xstar and what not. Its nice knowing I didn't shell out 40k for my boat (although I prolly would if I could). Just .02 from a college kid.
Another point is if your buying a boat that old, I'd suggest you be comfy with making at least minor repairs. Everyone told me a boat is a money pit, so I went into my purchase expecting to spend money and time on repairs.
a few pics from when i first got my boat can be found at www.gobeer.net/boat
