|
|
I've been wakeboarding for about 4 years and last week I rode a wakeskate.
I had two basic problems:
1. It was difficult to get up. I felt like I had the board in the correct position and everything... boat pulled me in idle so it would stick to my feet, but when he hit it, I mostly treaded water until I couldn't handle the pressure and let loose of the handle. I did manage to get up twice out of about 10 or 15 tries.
2. When I did get up, the board was really loose. I had no fins. Real fun, but BAM! I got slapped hard. Kind of funny.
I'm thinking the board was too small for me. I'm 6-0, 205 lbs. and normally ride a 141 wakeboard. Not sure what the right wakeskate would be for me. |

I've only been playing with a wakeskate for about a 9 months, but it sounds like you are just "plowing water" after you get moving instead of planing out. Once you get the board "stuck" to your feet at idle, the mechanics of getting up on the wakeskate are identical to a wakeboard. As you accelerate from idle, try putting a little more weight on the balls of your feet so that the angle of the skate is less severe (i.e., not vertical to the water surface). Imagine "slicing" the water with the wakeskate instead of "pushing". _________________ You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. |

try jumping off a dock, make sure the rope line is tight then once its tight jump off the dock with the wakeskate in ure hand and as u come down place the skate under ure feet
or
put the board under your feet and make sure ure whole body is underwater, besides ure head, then when the boat starts pulling the wakeskate should stick to ure feet then its just like being pulled up like a wakeboarder. |

Those two suggestions sound hard, but maybe that's just me. _________________ Wakeboard/Waterski/Kneeboard/Ride Random Objects
