As Ralph stated, I heard they were going back to a modified version of old tower with the same large bend radii, and they are going to allow you to change the deck color again. I know the SAN hull has been around for roughly 10 years, but the actual Super Air Nautique isn't all that old and isn't ready to have a complete makeover yet, no reason to either, IMO.
If they do come with the new tower next year I hope to swap it out because nobody in my fam really likes the way the 2004 tower looks. Nautique is great about finding out what its customers want and incorporating it into their boats, but I just don't think they are ready to make any major changes (cough cough larger boat) like hull design...lets all pray they don't go to a pickle nose

| It seems like such a small thing, but I am SO glad that theyre going back to the old style tower. That bend across the top, and all the other design changes to the flight control tower were mistakes IMHO. Straight up boredom-inspired errors. Good to hear that they realize that now.

| Erik, like I said, I heard they are going to keep the same bend radius on the top of the tower, just the bottom is going to change to give it that distinct look that they once had.

| I like the 2004 tower alot. I also like how the highest piont is the windshield when the tower is folded down. Doesn't make much sense for them to switch the tower design already.

| Jack V, the amount of height that you subtract by using the new model tower is only a matter of inches, and in most cases still not enough to touch the roof of a garage when folded. They went to the new tower (Generation 3?) simply for cosmetics, and if the customers don't like it it really does make sense to change it.

| I like the look of the '04 tower. Better than all the rest. The main thing is the round basebar. I think it looks really sweet.

| I honestly don't like the way it looks, and compared to the previous 03 it is a pain to get the front bumpers on, especially on the driver's side of the boat because you have to hang around the outside, unlike the old tower where you could simply reach through the bottom half. If you need to reach the glove box from the outside if you don't want to take your shoes off, it also sucks to have to stick your body through the bottom of the new tower compared to the old one which had a LOT bigger of a gap. Another problem with the new tower is that it supplies less overhead bar space to hang speakers, hence why we need to drop our soon-to-be-ordered NVS's another inch or so because of the large bend radius. I hope CC doesn't take this the wrong way and go with a fugly backwards tower or anything, but more rather make it more practical. I think that is where the SAN suffers, is in practicality as far as room, storage and design goes.

| So are you guys saying that the current SAN are the same hull as the Super Sport Nautiques? If so, would a three piece engine cover from a newer SAN fit onto an older (say 1996) Super Sport? Maybe a stupid question but probably worth asking regardless...

Rock Toy, with some good fab skills you can make anything happen.
Alan C, a complete makover can be a bad thing...makes our boat's resale go down (makes them feel old too which is no fun)

All they need to do on the 05 is put the 03 tower on there. And maybe do a full wrap around seat, so that it went behind the driver from the back of the boat, well on the SAN anyways. Not much room for it on the regulars DDs.

Ha ha, that is funny. I guess that is why they still use the clamshell observors set after 10 years of complaining.

Ralph, I've never seen anyone have a problem with the clamshell observers seat before, and I've known alot more people with 210's than you knowing that you live in NZ. I actually like it because you can get full access into the compartment under the stereo without dealing with cushions and an additional flip up cushion. It's just so much easier to flip up the whole seat which does weigh nearly nothing.
No offense to be taken, but it's funny to hear this from a guy who owns a v210 with the annoying hump in the sun deck...that's something that needs to be incorporated out of their boats that people have been complaining about for years.

When I was on a 04 SANTE a few weeks ago it frustrated me that it was such a poor design than it cut the storage space in 1/2 and basically anthing stored in there could get wet pretty easily. Also the 2 tiny "coolers" if you could call them that were pretty useless, too small, weren't self draining, and only one was insulated. After hearing all the hype of how good the SAN I guess I was expecting more.
No offense taken! The hump is pretty funky but if you don't like it you can get the 330 scorp motor with the flat sundeck.

The Interior of the SAN is IMHO just straight out poor design. The have a great hull which throws a Killer wake which can be built to epic proportions. Their Build Quality is second to none.
But the interior layout is just straight out crap as far as what they have done to maximise the space available ie. nothing
Its like they have gone killer wake ..yep... build smacks of quality... yep ..alright lets call it a day and have a few beers.
Sticking with the old retro style window has resulted in a very very cold boat which is probably going to lose them 1 sale based on that alone. This could easily be improved by bringing the windscreen around past the driving position in the same fashion as they have done with the 226
This boat as good as it is has PLENTY of room for improvment on the inside but not much else.
if one of their designers would just take the time to maximise the space available.
Correct Craft would IMHO own the wakeboarding boat market at the top end no question
The Designers really need to go and look at the Tige 20v to get some ideas on space maximisation or better yet headhunt one of their designers
If I sound pissed off Its cause I am. This was going to be my dream boat until I got into it and found it didn't meet my requirements. But the thing that pisses me off is that the reason that it didn't meet my requirements was IMHO poor design and around small things which with a bit of extra thought and effort could have been killer too!!

I must have missed something, which one of the coolers is insulated (none of mine are)? The SANTE has three coolers-you must have missed the one in the bow. Obviously only the two were needed to provide you and your guests with plenty of adult beverages.
Working on my Sport and my SAN, I prefer the clamshell over the lip on my old MC.

All this complaining, I actually upgraded to the 04' tower on my 03' SANTE. The new tower looks to date not something from the middle 90's but to each it's own. The interior is well laid out, it's your typical V-drive layout, what are you compareing it to? I just sold the X-Star, their really isn't much differance between the layout other then how you get into your spotter seat storage. I prefer the wide openness of seat opening up completely, the X-Star is small if you just lift the back of the seat.
CC is going in the right direction, why does everyone need a larger boat, If you are a serious rider, do you enjoy watching 10 other people ride every night, IMHO I like to get a few sets in, like 3-4 other buddys, bigger boat = more weight added for bigger wake. CC and the X-2, IMHO are perfect hulls for everyday riding.
My buddy has the NEW X-STAR. Our river isn't deep enough for it, so the wake suffers. To me, thats isn't the perfect WB boat, why should you need deep water to ride?

smlparksguy133, First off, your in a thread called "2005 SAN". Most people who post in this are going to be fond of SANs and most things about them. Go into a general boat thread and you will see more posts about MC's, SANS, Malibu, Tige, Supra, etc. Personal preference. BTW, have you ever ridden behind a SAN or even a MC?

smlparksguy133, the SAN's wake is the steepest out there. It puts you so high in the air. Its rediculous. Correct Craft has been in business since 1925. They build quality stuff which is shown by the number of old nautiques that you see out there.
Mastercraft builds good boats too, it's personal preference. I like how steep the wake is on the SAN and that's not something you can find anywhere else. I like to pop high and land on the transition so the steeper the wake the better for me.
Some people get thrown off by the SANs wake and if they are looking for a top quality boat Mastercraft or Malibu is the way to go.

I love MC but we have a new dealer in town and we don't see eye to eye. Now I just bought a CC and SO far I'm pretty impressed, Only time will tell. To answer your ? about comparison, MC & CC will always be compared because they are the best of the best.

I may be biased but I still think that CC and MC are the two best boats in the market, with CC edging our MC in quality construction. Its kinds funny how often I see people talking about how they "upgraded" from a MC to a CC. This is the same old Ford vs. Chevy arguement. Whatever floats your boat

I have to agree. I think the older Nautiques (80's) were better but nowadays, someone saying they upgraded from a MasterCraft to a Nautique is a little bit odd. They're both awesome.
That said I am upgrading from my 2 year old Land Rover Discovery to a 4 year old Chevrolet Tahoe in a few months. So true - "whatever floats your boat!"

smlparksguy133, Are you aware that MC's good engineers arent even there anymore? And thats how skiers choice was formed?(MOOMBA, SUPRA) Everybody loves SAN's because they are truely the best, if you buy an X-Series you are paying for that name, and its gonna porpouse a lot more than it should at that price, our SAN never porpouse's unless we are on huge rollers, but the other day there was an 03 X Star at the gas station when we had our SAN there and they were saying how they wished they woulda went with an SAN, and then we saw them on the lake, and we saw why, their boat porpoused so bad, and when they were side by side with us, they were weighted evenly. The guy complained about the X Series doing that, and every dealer we talked to when we looked into boats(Nautique, Malibu, Moomba/Supra, Sanger, and MasterCraft) all praised Nauitique boats, and all but one company(MASTERCRAFT) said they were not the same boat anymore and you were buying the name, and that they porpoused horribly. My parents also noticed the interior was not nearly as nice as in an SAN. Of course the floor was carpet but up to the seat it was all fiberglass, SAN's have carpet all the way up, not in the bow I dont think though. Sure an X-Series is going to be better than say a Centurion, but they are not better than a Nautique. People think if the boat has cool graphics and a cool tower with a hefty price tag, its the best. Look at Nautique, Plain but Classy looking graphics, not tacky at all, the tower goes with the line of the boat but maybe isnt wild enough for some, and you still have the hefty price tag(not to sound snobby). Why? Because of PERFORMANCE. Nautique and Malibu are on top right now, MasterCraft needs to get it together if they wanna charge that much.

smlparksguy133, look at these and you can see what I mean
And the back of this boat is just straight up great looking.
Thats is the reason people like SAN if you can't tell the difference between FRG's and My Nautique(well my parents) and that X Star, and not think the SAN is better, you are sadly mistaken.
