I got a 03 4-trac for x-mas, but due to the cold I hadn't been able to take it out till a few weeks ago. Now after only 2 sessions, and no kickers/sliders hit, the paint is starting it crack and flake off. Whats the deal?! I didn't pay $100 to have it start falling apart after less than 4 hours worth of riding. Is this a regular problem for cassettes?

KBSmith88, that seems to be the norm for the 03s unfortunately.

from what I can see that looks to be in alot better shape then mine. any defects that occur (other then those which you cause) should be warrantied. Only problem is they are not shipping 04's yet

I got an 02 Cassette and rode it for the first time today and it has the same thing. The mine has cracks in the paint that are a foot long, then there are lots of smaller ones parallel to each other at the nose and tail. Doesn't really bother me too much because if the paint all comes off (or a lot comes off) I will just paint it.

From pictures I have seen, I'm going to say yes this problem still occurs. As badly as the 03's is another thing.

I tried to take some pics to show the lines on my skate... They aren't that great but they show what happened.

I haven't heard anything about it happening to the other wood boards, but I'm pretty sure it will happen to all of them eventually.

dedhead54, most wooden skates get lines like that in them. My friends hyperlite has a ton of them, but it doesnt affect the skates performance at all, its just superficial.

Yeah, after I saw them I figured it was just something that happened since it was a wooden skate. It didn't really bother me too much after my brother told me that he has seen a lot of Cassettes that have done that.
