I'm guessing that you have big fins on your board (one on each end probably about 1.9-2.1" fins) take them bad boys off and get a feel for it, then once you can do it easy put 'em back on... It's a really simple trick, just takes some getting used to. Oh and rember to keep that handle down by your waist.

When your ready move on to the butterslide 180 or 360 http://wakeboarder.com/tricks/butterslide180.phtml Butter spins are a good way to get used to the handle position on spins.

Cheers.

also, its a lot easier to do butterslides right when you get up because for most people they are sideways getting up. so try that and get the feel for balancing them. finless would be a good idea like said above.

what i do for butterslides, is just kick your rear leg forward like you were taking a step forward, put your handle to your hips and have your calves firm so you dont catch an edge and faceplant.

Good Luck!

butter slides are easy if u kno how to do them, first of all, i never remove the fins off my board, never treid it but slides are still easy to do when u dont have them. it also depends what type of rocker u have on ur board, 3 stage is alot better then continiuos. to actuly do a slide, carve out as far a u can or u heel edge, lean back and bring ur back foot back till u feel the board ease up and start to slide. once uve mastered that try to do them backwards on ur toe edge, it great fun, looks impressive and is easy, good way to impress the ladies in the boat.

I had teh same issues when learning to do that trick. What solved it for me was leaning back a bit more from the boat to make sure I did not catch a front edge. After thta, I got more comfortable and was able to flaten it out to where it looked nice.

mmmm buttery

I have a bit of trouble with them i've only done a few... is it like stopping on a snowboard? or not. its seems like it is turning sideways keeping toe edge up unless you doing fs then it would be heelside.

Their are a few things u need to know about slides same position as barefooting, tose infront of knees, knees infront of waiste waiste infront of shoulders.

Badicly just remebr to keep your back straioght if u get hunched u will face plant if u assum the proper position then even if water clips the front you wont fall!
