Super Air Folks - Is this a good deal?

I was perusing the Web today and saw this ad for a 2001 Super Air. As I am looking to possibly move into a SAN next year, I'd like to know if this seems like a good deal?

I have a 2001 SAN, just like the one shown (different color though). Great boat. Check NADA value and then see if they will negotiate.

Erik, I don't think it is the greatest deal. I bought a 2001 SAN a year an a half ago for 39K and it had many more options (perfect pass, fresh water cooling, etc.). I think you could probably get that boat for around 35. My take on it anyway. Good luck!

My problem with it, like many newer used wakeboard boats is that you could of got that boat new for only a few bucks more in 2001. WHen I bought my 2000 in 2000 I got it for about that price. Just cause the new ones keep getting more expensive shouldn't mean you should pay more for an older one.

Comparable to other boats I've seen lately for sale that boat could be a OK deal if you beat them down a little or if it is in flawless condition for its age.

Hey Erik, I agree with actiondcpd in that the price looks a tad steep, especially without perfectpass. It doesn't appear that rig comes with heat or a shower, either. I also have an '01 and mine was significantly less. I'd think that rig should be priced around 35-36K.

From the looks this would be a better deal. 100 more hours with similar options for 5 grand less.

I agree with everyone else. Maybe he is asking more for the first one because it has a West Coast Choppers sticker on it? That makes all the difference......

My dealer had an 02 SANTE with team package and perfect pass and he was asking 35k and I know he ended up selling it for 32.5 k. So I would look around, especially at the end of the season or find someone trying to unload one in the winter months.

Thanks very much for the responses. I thought it sounded high. But if this is the case, then I dont know where to look for one anymore. Flipsell sellers are out of their skulls, so I just go there to look at pics, Brandon Cruze also is very high, and boattrader is just slightly better. I guess they price them high becuase they dont really want or need to sell them... thats the only way I can explain it!

Money talks though. Many of these people are asking high but I bet would take much less for their boats. Don't worry you will find your boat!!

I look at it another way--it helps keep boat envy at bay.

If the price goes up with little or no significant improvements, I keep what I have. On average I hold onto my boats for 8 to 10 years. Then I sell the boat for whatever the market allows.

No one can predict supply and demand, I don't try. My boats have been the best investment our family has ever made. It's worth every penny, every hour of cleanup and every mile driven.

Congrats on seeing it that way. A Boat is not sopposed to be an investment in anything but entertainment.

jzwake, for some of us, and this may sound cheezy, but boating IS a lifestyle. A lot of people on these boards are out nearly every day of the week, including my family and I, so in our case, a boat most certainly can be an investment in many more things that just entertainment. Anything you put your money into is an investment (look it up in Webster's), and fact has it that a boat isn't the best way to invest your money (that is subjective, but I'm coming from a financial standpoint) because of things like depreciation, but to some the hours of time you get to spend with family and friends out on the lake boarding is well worth it.

If you want to make an investment that will benefit you financially in the future, go buy some land.

Bruky, I don't think your understanding me. In my 3 posts in this topic I am basically going the exact same route you are. I wasn;t being sarcastic in my last reply. I am all about buying boats and yes financing them over 15years because it is part how my lifestyle.

As for a boat being called an investment, I would never call it an investment, its a toy, cut and dry. and toys are fun. wakeboarding is fun. your lifestyle is your lifestyle because it is fun.

But that is not the point. Your right, its lifestyle and my orignal point was about the illusion of resale value, not weather or not you should buy a boat. Everyone should buy a wakeboard boat.

You should buy a boat based on the fun it will provide, not because it will still be worth X% of what you payed in 5 years.

I will buy some land so I can always afford my toys.
