CWB Absolute Board

Hey, I may be wrong but from the looks of it, the Absolute Board is a pretty kick ass board. Everyone who has ridden it seems to like it, so I'm gonna demo it and if all goes well, buy one. Very Happy

What is the difference between the platinum and normal tho. I know the platinum is one lb. lighter, but is that worth the extra 90 bucks? I weigh 115 and I thought the 134 would be best. Am i thinkin' alright or am i going in the wrong direction. Any other boards better for me.
The reason why I'm buying a new one is because my dad bought me a 2002 hyperlite, Chad Sharpe, 142 project. I like it, but a 142 is way too big for me, right. He wanted to share it and thats why its so big. But Im 115 lbs, and he's 240 lbs. Or will it help me get more air, cause he said it would. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW...I can clear the wake, but Im only about 2 ft off the water the whole time. I want more height instead of length. What do I do, from what I hear... cut out hard, progressivly edge harder and harder, stand tall at wake, rope tight against body...and there ya go. Right???

Hi there, I have the Absolute 134 Foam core board and absolutely love it. That board will be the right size for you. As for the Platinum vs Foam thing, I chose the foam because I liked the graphics on the foam better. The Platiunum supposedly has better pop, but my foam board has plenty of pop for me. Getting air is all in the board control. The only thing a bigger board *might* do for you is make landings softer because of more surface area. If you feel the board is too big and can't control it well, then it probably is too big.
To get more height instead of length, shorten your cut into the wake and really think about staying on edge all the way up the wake. The Absolute is a good board to learn this on because it will not let you cheat. If you come off your edge on the absolute you get "absolutely" no air.

The absolute is a great board for some people. However, it has a pretty aggrressive 3 stage rocker, while the project is continuous. I used to ride the project and then when that broke I had the cwb for about 2 months. Anyway, your "pop" problem is more related to your technique then the board at your level of riding. IMO, the 3 stage cwb will do more harm then good for you. I would stick to a continuous board, something you are more used to and is better suited for your ability level. I think that 3 stage boards are better for a more advanced rider. I didn't agree with me at all. As far as landings, from only 2 feet up what do you care? J/K! The absolute has a center spine that makes the landings nice, but a continuous board will land softer then a 3 stage in general. Again, IMO, the landing is more a function of technique then the board, unless you're real good. Outlaw level. I do agree you need a smaller board. IMO, try the tfd or LF substance. I think you will find them easier to ride. Smart that you are demo-ing.
