Anybody have to wear a brace when they board? I'm supposed to be wearing a knee brace, but it makes riding so much harder because I can't bend my knee the way I want to, so I just don't wear it. Are there any alternatives to wearing a brace? I just don't want serious knee problems in the future, but giving up wakeboarding isn't an option. |

shorty, what kind of brace are you supposed to be wearing? my dad is supposed to wear abgrace when he boards sometimes he does sometimes he just says screw it. he wears an EVS brace, and he likes it pretty good, it's the same one as on buywake.com. I dont know...if you dont wanna wear it maybe you could wea it sometimes at least, Id hate to see you blow your knee out or something and not be able to board at all! be smart girl. |

It's just like a neoprene one that keeps me from bending my knee too far in either direction.
I got it last year because I took a few hard landings with a straight leg, and it started swelling and I had trouble walking normal. They made me take a few weeks off from boarding and it started feeling better after I stopped boarding for a while in the winter, but then I cased a nice sized jump skiing, and my problems started coming back. It's not so much while I'm boarding as it is just walking or riding a bike, but I don't know if it's something that's going to get worse if I'm not careful. |

well you dont really have to wear the brace....i have two horrible knees that get swollen up w/fluid but just ice them when you get off the boat to stop the swelling and take tylenol or somethin...wear the brace any day you're out walking a lot of stuff so you dont have to wear it so much wakeboarding...the muscle in your leg may get stronger and your knee pains may go away...ask your doctor about exercises to do and trust me they help...i went to physical therapy lol. _________________ no brains, no headache... |
