Hear in norcal, i hear of many people riding in the delta. Given the size of the Delta, what are some specific areas that people go, or does it even matter. I usually ride out at Don Pedro. What are, if any, the pros and cons of each the lake and Delta. What do you prefer?...

Lakes (such as Don Pedro) - smooth mornings and later afternoons/early evenings, wide open, less traffic, clean water, beautiful scenery, marina & store

Delta - usually smooth all day long, usually narrow but main channel is wide, can get congested, water isn't the cleanest, scenery is boring, bars and restaurants on the water, various marinas & stores

I prefer the Delta...I'm there to ride. We'll do occasional trips to lakes to camp and ride, but most of our riding is at the Delta.

Norcalboarddude, after 2 days at 2 lakes (over 100 mi apart) I would say just go to the Delta. Don't get me wrong, I had a kickass weekend, but I only got 3 or 4 sets in due to conditions (man-made conditions!!!).

The wallys are here to stay - at least on the Delta their wakes dissipate quickly so you can still find smooth water. I spent Sunday on Rollins with xxxlwake, a Rollins regular - he (and others) said it was the worst day they have seen - EVER.

I prefer the delta. I am about an hour away from it and I been to Pedro, Tulock, Berryessa and its not worth it for me to pass the delta to take a chance on the lakes. We go to berryessa for three day weekends.

I ride the Delta a lot and personally I think it is the best place to ride. I used to ride at the local lakes around my house (Calero, Anderson, and Coyote) but they always suck and you never get good water. At least up at the delta you can always find some good water.

west coast boarder, you need to go to some better lakes before you start talkin smack against them. calero, anderson and coyote suck compared to anything. they are just horrible places to ride unless you get lucky...

Scott A nailed it. I had a house on Lake Tulloch for 3 years, now my boats at Disco Bay. Lakes are for the scenery and the experience, but the water is only ridable early morning and late afternoon. Delta = good water all day long

For the reasons stated by other's the Delta offer's better riding at almost any time and there is way less Wallys out and about.

But IMO Ill drive the extra hour to the lake. Ill get up early to ride. I like the fact that the water is clean and clear. I like to hang out in in the water and the Delta water is way less inviting. The water in the Delta look like a Toilet.

I used to ride at the Delta all the time. I used to laugh at all the people that wouldnt get in the watter because it looked dirty. My friend wreked the delta for me.

He said that alot of the houseboats you see on the delta dump there sewage in the delta, I said no way! He say's Think about it If your a cheep ass Hillbilly and you live on the delta on a old ass houseboat are you going to pay $ to have your sewage tank pumped out or are you just going to dump right in the water!

I hope he is wrong. But I bet alot of people dump sewage right into the delta. I know its not going to kill you but, mabey thats why the waters Brown! Ha J/K

Scott a, I'm not saying I don't like any lakes. I'm just saying with what I got close to me which is anderson, calero, and coyote the delta is like paradise. I do like going to some lakes. Every year we go up to New Melones and that is one of the best times all summer. So sorry if it sounded like I slammed all lakes because I didn't mean it like that.

Delta is the spot.

If you can get Folsom on a good its pretty nice. Warm water and good riding if its not windy...but good luck with that. Folsom can be pretty nutty though.

Stick to the delta.
