You can go to the hardware store and get quick release fittings for garden hoses because they have the same thread as the water bed fittings you put into your bags the problem is you start restricting the flow of the water because the inside diameter is smaller on the fittings than the hose to fill the bags so it takes a little longer. It does help with keeping the boat from getting all wet inside. Anyone else have any ideas?

I tried this thread a little while ago, I found www.flow-rite.com has some 3/4" stuff. I got two sets, but have plumed them yet. I'll let you know how it works when I do.

You could put a nice valve on your bag with a bit of thick rubber hose on the end, then put some PVC pipe on the end of your pump on both sides so you can just slip the PVC pipe into the rubber hose about 6 inches then flip the valve open and either drain or fill.

Once it's done, just close the valve. Keeps water in, keeps air out.

First get rid of those little blue waterbed thingys. Take a 6" piece of 3/4 ID clear hose and slip (force) it over a barbed 3/4 PVC male. Drill some random holes along the length of the hose so it will keep flowing if the end gets plugged (straw on the bottom of the cup effect). Jam it in the sack hole. Mine hasn't leaked in a year and I don't even use a clamp on it.
(idea stolen from others)

Next, use a 3/4 ball valve to shut off the flow. If you need remote operation use the flo-rite valves. Both options flow well when open unlike other valves you will find at the hardware store. Just leave the hoses connected or add a 3/4 union if you need a disconnect.

I like to use 3/4 flexible electrical conduit for the hoses (the kind without the metal spiral inside, Carlon). It is rigid enough not to collapse yet still flexible. It works with the 3/4 barbed fittings, its sunlight resistant, and most importantly it's cheap (roughly $0.50 per foot).

Use stainless radiator style clamps if needed.

Enjoy,
Mikeski

All these are to complicated for non-perm ballast i wish someone made just quick disconnects like granden hoses but that were high flow i bet they would sell alot.

if your filling two sacs the limited flow won't be a real problem. I have the garden style quick release on mine and it works great. You can get everything you need from home depot...drag a sac in and start trying stuff out.
