pardon my ingnorance but i have a quick question. the prop that i had on my boat last year (that i tore up) had a pitch of 17....my new prop has a pitch of 19. How will this affect performance? slower? faster? did the question even make sense? _________________ "...gonna go to mickey d's, get a burger with some cheese..." D-Loc |

your boat will go faster, but have a slower hole-shot.
and it might be harder to hold speed at lower levels.

Hole shot also depends on prop material. What are the props made of? Stainless, aluminum, etc??? _________________ _______________________________________ |

Pitch is the distance in inches that the boat moves forward for 1 revolution of the prop. Hence 19 pitch is higher geared than 17 pitch.
Think of it as your car gearing. Try pulling away in top gear in a manual and you get a pretty lousy start but will reach a high top speed. Keep it in first and you accelerate from a standing start PDQ but your top speed is limited by maximum engine revs.
Same in a boat. _________________ Jeff |
