I just finished my first ever billboard design. I'm a little nervous though, because it's gonna be 42 feet wide and 14 feet tall! It's being placed on highway 101 in the northern bay area, and will be viewed by approximately 77,000 commuters each day! So, PLEASE let me know what you think of the design! I want to make sure it's cool before it's too late! Thanks!

I like the design, but it seems like theres little too much going on. When you're driving by a billboard at 70, you don't have time to read a ton of words. The first thing I read when I look at this is "Where members come first." When driving by at 70, thats all I would read. I wouldn't have time to see Redwood Credit Union, which is what the goal is for the entire billboard. Just a thought.

Yeah - I see your point Zach.
There are a few key elements that they wanted me to incorporate into the design. They wanted the trees in the background, they wanted a midddle aged couple, a house and a car. They wanted the headline very big and bold, and of course the logo. I think the logo has to be bigger though somehow.
Back to the drawing board!

Thanks Mandi! Wink

Just a Thought.

the coin background is cool but it tool me a long time before i noticed it. i would keep it but pull the navigator out more and put a wakesetter on the back of it. that woudl deffinately get my attention. or you could remove the smiling couple and put the boat back there since it looks like you need a solid background for the compnay name and web address. Also the variety of color on the people kind of lure my eyes away from the text like it may be a little "visually heavy" on the left side.
still a good billboard though. a lot better than most i have seen.

Try switching the slogan and the logo. Making the logo bigger and more central, and putting the slogan in the corner.

Here are my critics and suggestions, coming from another designer that's done billboards also

I find the text headline seems to fade into the white of the background esp. in the trees and it makes it hard to read. I'm assuming you did the layout in Photoshop. I might try to incorporate all your images onto one side about a third of the bill board and fade into a neutral solid maybe that light green and then put all the text onto the other 2 thirds of the page, it might make it a little easier to read. Pull the trees behind the house and cut them off a t the front of the truck or fade them into the coin background that could carry all the way to the other side and then put the text on top of it after you fade it back a little more. Is this confusing? I'm going back and forth from typing to looking at the photo and I think I'm jumping around a little.

Perhaps a little thicker font also. At 75 and drunk, it may run together. The text headline, I mean.

Wakedork- I don't think your sketch posted. Could you try again. I want to see what you're talking about. Thanks for your feedback.

Budman- I don't think that drunk drivers are the demographic that we're trying to reach, but thanks! BTW, I have to use that font. It's our corporate font. But I agree, it's not the easiest to read.

Better yet, marry a chick that already has a sweet X-star full of hot friends, a Navigator, and a tight house - a sugar mama!

Visually, it's very impressive. The main problems I see in it is how the company's name is very small, and also the family stands out too well, when I view it, my eyes are attracted to them and not the slogan. I think this stuff's been said already, but those are the only problems I can see. Nice work! Mr. Green
