im 14 and just strated wakeboarding last week, and its a blast and i love it!!!
i got a Blindside Session 137, and im not sure what bindings because it came w/ the board.
well, i was wondering what is a good cruising speed where the wake is optimum for jumps and pops??
i noticed that the faster the boat was going, the farther out of the wake i could go...
what speeds do u guys ride at? _________________ Wake Forest University |

yea thats what i was thinking
my board says do not exceed 24 MPH
so ill probably be inbetween 20 and 24 but its hard to keep a steady low speed on the boat we have... _________________ Wake Forest University |

Just ride where the wake is good and you feel comfortable, it is different from boat to boat and rider to rider. As for the whole do not exceed 24 mph thing screw that, riding at 40+ mph is quite exciting. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

I must say that it is. All though I have never done 40+ on my wakeboard I have been water skiing. |

Matthew, you should try it, we just do it joking around every once in a while. It all started when I was pulling my friend and he was being an ass so i just dropped the throttle and went, lucky for him my boat only tops out at 45 or so. As we all know friendships can be a vicious circle so while I was riding I got mine, now we just do it to eachother every once in a while to make sure we are all still paying attention
Blindside_137, That is why you make sure not to crash. We aren't hitting the wake or anything at 40 just trying to hold on for dear life. It is still fun anyhow. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

| One of my family's friends was the first guy to ever barefoot at over 100mph (holy crap!). He did it behind a blown-fuel hydroplane, and the friction of the water burned the soles of his feet pretty badly. Absolutely crazy. |

if your going too slow the wake curls and flattens and if you go too fast it flattens because the boat speeds up to lose the weight. you can tell if its to big or too small. just make the driver slow or speed the boat with the hand signals and jump the wake at each speed to see which one is right. i usually ride at 21 mph though. _________________ Represent **LIQUID FORCE**

For me it partially depends on the chop. If I am wakeboarding on glassy water, I prefer about 18 mph (my boat does not like 20 mph or I would ride there), my son rides at about 21 mph. If we are in 2 - 3 ft waves (yes Iwe do wakeboard on whatever water we can), we both ride more around 14 mph cause we get the beat up otherwise.

| today was my second time going and when I got done with a run (snowboard term, not used to the newer wake terms) I asked how fast I was going and the guy driving said 32! I was somewhat shocked because I read this thread earlier today and figured he would be going about 20. We only have a nice fishing boat, no tower or anything. Will going slower make a larger wake? I think he said if I stayed up long enough he was going to have fun with me (whatever that means, lol) |

Scorched_Ice7, yes you should probably go a bit slower. 32 seems a bit fast for the whole pass. somewhere around 20 is good. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

My friends and I do this thing called the "Man Test". It's a joke we play on people who have either never wakeboarded before or are on their first time on my boat. (My crew and I have all done it, of course). Anyway, one simply has to hold onto the handle whilst the driver of the boat floors it. My boat tops out at 55-but the victim planes out at around 30 so you just hang on and bounce... after the boat reaches maximum velocity-we turn really sharp and one of two things happen- They die OR they corkscrew really fast bounce on the water a few times and THEN die. Youre REALLY the man if you do it in late August when the Jellyfish come in from the Chesapeake. _________________ Crownsville Wakeboard Team |

There's also a very good possibility that your speedometer is calibrated upwards to "fake" a faster boat... I know my old boat did that, we had to go at something around 32mph too, and it's the exact same thing as around 21-22 on our new boat 0_0 _________________ Now even tough I know there's NO one in here that lives anywhere near Montréal, if you ever feel like riding, just pm/e-mail/msn/whatever else me |

roundbaywakeboard, we do the same thing. it is kinda hard to hold on before you get up onto a plane though, but after you are up its no prob. _________________ I once saw a fork lift pick up a pallet of forks, it was way too literal for me. |

| Well I cant Wakeboard for awhile as the boat is on a trip with the owner to go fishing for a week but once he gets back were leaving for a week to SD to try it out some more. And I'm sure I'll experience the man test. I think I was hinting at receiving it earlier. We'll try all different speeds and just see what works best I guess. |
